I tried a new salon near my home today. It was great. I even received a head massage. I don't know how she did it, but it felt so damn good. Good thing I was lying down, cause I would have probably fell down. She hit the right pressure points, I almost wet myself.
The rest of the employees didn't have clients, so they were watching Korean dramas on a flatscreen tv. It was well worth the $40. _________________

I just looooove head massages! The one thing I miss about Japan is my lovely hairdresser in Nagoya!

Consider yourself lucky. (The going not often, not the split ends ) If I don't go every 3 weeks, I look like crap. Considering I don't look great even when I'm coming out of the salon...

I noticed a few of you were having a discussion in the Going to Japan thread about older women in Japan coloring their hair in bright colors. I asked my friend Jun who is a Japanese woman, who lives and works in Japan, the reason why so many older women chose those bright Anime character type of colors.
Here is Jun's answer:
It is a fashion. Japanese women don't like white hair. White hair will become yellowish if we are idle in caring for our hair. It looks dirty. Older women like purple on their hair best. An elder woman whom I know said to me that she would liked to get older sooner to have very white hair, then she can dye her hair her favorite color. About 50 percents of Japanese women have their hair brown or reddish like me because black hair is harder to dye than any other color.
Colored hair of Anime characters helps you to tell each character from the other. Which color is used doesn't mean anything. If all the characters have dark hair the screen will look heavy.
Two boys in their late teens once worked at our factory. They had their hair pink. Elder men didn't like that because they thought pink was a color for young girls. LOL ! Soon after the boys started changing their hair colors into other ones like green, purple, red, or blue. They enjoyed coloring their hair.
As far as I can guess people who play music like coloring their hair red or pink, elder women like purple or blue, young women like light brown or blonde. They enjoy selecting clothings with their hair color in mind.
It looks unnatural that elder people have black hair but blue or purple hair looks better and younger to us. LOL !

I read somewhere that older people Japan tend to go a bit crazy when they don�Lt have to fit anymore into the rigid social corset.
Some of them really lose it, some of them get divorced, some start bizarre hobbies and some get punky hair as it seems.

I don't mind old women coloring their hair in dark tones like purple. Pink... that's another story. Flashy pink is not something you should have, if you are older than 25 IMHO.
I saw something strange, in a drugstore, in Japan. They had white coloring too. Like most evils in anime. It must take a lot of chemicals to turn your hair white, but it might looks nice if you are young. _________________

I saw one teenie in Nagoya who had white highlights - it looked very cool. But unfortunately pink hair on a 60 year old lady dressed in Burburry isn�Lt classy

My mom got me a kanzashi at a craft fair that we went to. I really wished that there was a purple or blue one, but they didn't have one, so I settled for this one because I sure as hell didn't want a girly pink one.
