I agree. When I initially started posting screenshots for the California drama board, I mostly chose shots with subtitles, hoping that people who missed an episode could sort of follow along using the included subtitles. But I've since switched to mostly posting shots without subs since they are just more attractive. Avoiding subs is much harder and more time consuming, sometimes requiring advancing a frame at a time looking for some attractive-looking, pristine frames as one sub disappears and before the next is displayed.
