I guess the Fox commentators were right: they said that McLaren and Ferrari were too busy battling last season instead of developing new cars like Brawn and Red Bull, but they'd get things sorted by mid-season...
And I don't know what's happened to BMW-Sauber.

no, it's not picking up stuff as good as it should and it leaves a layer on my fingers which is really hard to get off.

Have you tried using Goop or similar?
Latex gloves, maybe?
