Don't forget "Kanojo Ga Shinjatta" starring Nagase Tomoya, Fukada Kyoko and Kimura Yoshino. I'm really looking forward to this one!

Nagase supposedly plays a real loser in this one, and he has a one night stand with Kimura Yoshino, who mysteriously commits suicide the following day. Nagase tries to learn more about Kimura and the reason behind her sudden death; with Kimura's cellular phone as his only lead. He meets Kimura's younger sister, Fukada Kyoko and together they try to piece together the mystery... The story sounds pretty dark to me, but it's actually a romantic comedy. The storyline sounds fairly unique so I really want to check this one out! I thought that it was an odd coincidence that in another drama, "Remote" with both Fukada Kyoko and Kimura Yoshino, yet again, Kimura plays the dead one.

And about SKYHIGH....if the movie is just as "oh-my-god-i-crapped-my-pants" scary as the ride at Joypolis, it should be great!

Ok, managed to catch "FireBoys" and "The Way We Live" just now. My first impressions:

"Fireboys" started out sappy, but was interesting. However, the storyline is just too "goody-goody" for me to continue watching, so I was flipping the channel. Uchiyama Rina is typecasted as cutesy as ever, and doesn't really forward the story much.

On the other hand, I thought "The Way We Live" with Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Ryo, and Koyuki was pretty good; the story kept me in my seat for the entire hour. The story pretty much makes the user hate Ryo in the beginning for leaving Kusanagi, but then by the end of the story, you tend to sympathize with Ryo as the audience finds out that Kusanagi's character is the typical Japanese salaryman, who is just concerned about bringing home the bacon, and has no idea what goes on at home. Some great scenes of him wandering around at home searching for stuff while his character's daughter knows exactly where to get the cutlery, plates, etc..

Looking forward to next week!

My first impressions of Fireboys and Boku to Kanojo are really similar to those of gerwalker.

I was really looking forward to Fireboys because Waterboys was pretty good and the Fireboys team did awesome in Iitomo Senshuken the other night (haha what a reason...but they kicked "Pride" team's butt! I've always liked Takuya and know he constantly likes to be the center of attention but it seemed he took it to the extreme in Kohaku and Iitomo...kinda uncool Shake Head ).
Anyway bace to Fireboys: I was disappointed. Sad It's true that like in Waterboys, there's a lot of passion, but it gets too stuffy after a while. Maybe it was because it was a lot more serious than what I was expecting or maybe I anticipated too much, but I had to stop watching it after a while because it was getting on my nerves. I'm not sure if I'll watch next week...I might just stick it out to see Tsukamoto Takashi, but I keep expecting him to show up in drag like in Manhattan Love Story. Sweat

Boku to Kanojo to Kanojo no Ikiru Michi started out pretty good. I never saw Boku no Ikiru Michi (I might go rent it now) so I have nothing to compare it to, but it kept me interested, even though Kusanagi's character is a real jerk (but I guess that's the whole point of the story). The little girl was absolutely adorable! She is quite an actress and you can't help feeling sorry for her...I don't understand why her parents can't love her! I guess this drama takes a jab at those Japanese fathers that choose work over their own families, and also couples that dekichatta kekkon even when they're not yet ready to start a family.

Well, I can't wait to check out the other new dramas!

Igi Ari, Onna Bengoshi Oka Norie

(on TV Asahi)

Reiko Takashima

Synopsis (from Daily Yomiuri On-Line) :

One of the more promising entries, the 10-part series Igi Ari, Onna Bengoshi Oka Norie, debuts tonight on TV Asahi from 8 p.m.-9:54 p.m. It stars Reiko Takashima, one of Japan's better actresses who can move flawlessly from Edo-period samurai fare to tough Tokyo lawyer roles such as this. Worth checking out.

And, ne....onegaishimasu! Can you find infos/synopsis on TBS' Suna no Utsuwa which will start on Jan 18th? Starring Nakai Masahiro, Takeda Shinji, Matsuyuki Yasuko.
It is said that its a suspense mystery drama, adapted from a popular novel. A movie adaptation of it in 1970s was a big hit....

I've checked the TBS website and it looks like they haven't update the new season doramas. Shake Head

So far what I got is this one yanie_chan Wink :

Suna no Utsuwa

(on TBS)

Masahiro Nakai & Yasuko Matsuyuki

Synopsis ( from J!-Ent ) :

SMAP's Masahiro Nakai has got himself into a much more sinister plot line in the remake of Suna no Utsuwa, which starts Jan. 18 at 9 p.m. on TBS. It looks like he is going to murder Miki (Hidekazu Akai) in the first episode and we will spend the rest of the quarter learning why. There is a great supporting cast for this one too, including Ken Watanabe of The Last Samurai fame, Shinji Takeda and Yasuko Matsuyuki.

Is this Seicho Matsumoto's book translated overseas as Inspector Imanishi Investigates? If so, I think it could use serious modernization, the original content looked too 1950-60's to me.

Yeah, I think Suna No Utsuwa is a modernization of the book. I'm looking forward to it. I wanna see who'e better at faking piano playing...Takuya or Nakai?

Last night was the first episode of PRIDE. I wrote down some of my thoughts about it in my journal. It's more of my thoughts than a review though. http://www.livejournal.com/users/ichigo_daifuku/

Did anyone else find Pride kind of disappointing? Maybe I was expecting too much. It seems standard at best. After watching Good Luck!! last year I was hoping for something at least as good I guess. The use of Queen for the themesong is extremely cool though.

By far the best drama of the season so far is "Boku to Kanojo to Kanojo no Ikiru Michi". I've seen 2 episodes now. Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's acting is amazing. He plays a very cold father but it looks like Koyuki's English teacher character is getting through to him. I am also impressed by the acting of the girl who plays his child.
