Being half-Filipino myself, I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit intrigued about having a character that was mixed.
But then I remembered how really stereotypical/racist some dramas can be (like the almost pre-civil Rights "mammy" type maid featured in Hana Yori Dango, the all-black gang of random muggers that attack the female lead in the Hana Yori Dango 2 in NYC, or the general disgust felt by the kids in DragonZakura when they find out their english teacher hangs out at a "Philippine Pub").
I really don't have any idea how Filipinos are perceived by the general Japanese public- so I'll be watching for that, but I guess its a given that it must not be all sunshine since it's a source of conflict for the drama...
*wonders if it will make me as mad as "Last Friends"*
Lol to the above "writing"
I would keep my expectations low since - as you pointed it out yourself - multi-cultural elements in dramas are at best stereotypes.
Looks like another great drama season *ironic voice*

Since the title is undecided, maybe that's what it should be called.
Probably!
Oh dear, a Matsujun drama, a Smap-guy drama ... things for the next season can only get better unless they announce another Takky or Fukada Kyoko drama

LOL
about "stereotypical / racist " "mammy" thing just put it this way, the actor must have read the script before doing it so are'nt you happy she / he's employed, lol n that gangbang in NYC they just love, n have a very good working relationship with black americans believe me namie amuro always have black backup dancer, n in proposal daisakusen d running guy is black n etc..."dragon zakura" who would not be disgusted to a guy goin' to a club n besides they're portrayin an innocent HS studs for god sake, again let's not getaway to d subject. n d guy is goin' there to enhanced his speaking in english. nihonjin were impressed on how filipinos speak english with a neutral accent, that must be d reason why they put that up.
just treat it a daily dose of funny drama and beside you are hook up into it. if it is a akira kurosawa's movie then masterbate your brain out, nothing close to it jdramas are funny .are'nt we d one becoming sterotypical for just thinkin' it was an issue n actually not the case.
"last friends" u getting mad, i wonder?
let's not dwell to the past, it just halting your growth!

^ I guess it's a different story if you're part Japanese. But we do tend to come down hard on people who do use that term, because we don't want to be causing offence to our favorite country

^ It's fine for you if you're not offended, it's all good. We (moderators) are just here to keep the peace and make sure everyone sticks to the forum rules and nobody is offended. If someone does offend you and we don't see it, please let a mod know.
If you want to continue the discussion about using that abbreviation, the thread is http://jdorama.com/viewtopic.22.htm and we would be happy to continue there.

thank you for that thread i won't be using that term for diplomacy!!
end topic!!
btw! LOL
it seemed kame is loosing his charm in general teens here in japan. my sis who's attending in HS says that kame is no longer #1 on their lists.
it's changed to
1 arashi
2 yamapi
3 kame
kame's latest kami no shizuku, it seems not to be appealling to them.
i thought that drama is a good one, coz i love wine. iwas like always saying "true" everytime there's an incite about wine. maybe the theme don't appeal to them or maybe our age gap is a big factor. a certain interests between age range maybe has a big factor _________________

writing???
He will be acting in that drama not writing for that drama..
There are also complains that Mokomichi (a half Filipino) should take on that role instead of Jun. In my opinion, as long as a capable actor can, physically wise pass as a person of other nationality or of mix-heritage, its perfectly fine for him to play that character. Jun is a professional. He will study to be a proper "Bito".

Horikita goes homeless for next drama
Fri, February 20, 2009 (1:05am EST)
Actress Maki Horikita will take on a very different role for her next TV drama. She is starring in an untitled Fuji TV series which partly has her playing a homeless person.
In the drama, Horikita's character is burdened with 100 million yen worth of debt after her gambling father disappears. Chased out of her home by collectors, she is forced to sleep in places like internet cafes. However, she meets the president of a major company who offers to pay off the debt if she marries him, and she soon finds herself moving in with a rather eccentric family.
Fuji TV will air the show on Tuesdays at 9:00pm, starting in April.
