I don't see anything called "Seven Chefs" in the database. Is it maybe this show? http://www.jdorama.com/drama.686.htm

Old-Ant, I checked the KTSF site and it looks like next Sunday, they indeed will be showing the usual line up, except for the half-hour show at the end, which had been Cocorico Miracle Type, but last Sunday was some boring NHK show.

The KTSF site also has "The Seven Chefs" listed for next Saturday, but I do hope to see the final part of "Sorekara" - even though that has been rather boring too. I also noticed that the KTSF listing indicates only "Japanese" for the language, and not "Japanese with English subtitles" as it does with Haruka. So, Wintersweet, you may indeed have found the correct Jdorama listing for it. Because, aside from the reference to 7 chefs in the description, I noticed that it is a Fuji TV production, which we all know never allows subtitling anymore.

And the idea that there might be yet another unsubtitled dorama on Saturday evening depresses me! Cry

BTW, no one else mentioned this: There was an article in last Saturday's Chroncle (Sept 2) about KTSF. The headline was "KTSF celebrates 30 years serving Asian melting pot" Here is a link:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/09/02/DDG3BKSGGD1.DTL&hw=ktsf&sn=001&sc=1000

An interesting fact mentioned was that they started showing Japanese programming, along with Chinese, in September 1976. I wish I had been there! But, then again, I guess, being in Hawaii, watching KIKU would have really been the place to be for a young dorama addict.

It looks like we are in "older movies shown over 3 weeks mode". The Japanese title for "Seven Chefs" is "Nagareita Shichi Nin" (l). According to jMDB, it was released in 1997.

I wish someone would write up IQ Supli for Wikipedia. It's one of the wishlisted articles ... Anyway, I loved it when Koji Imada (whose name I know thanks to dochira!) sat down and played Hisaishi's "Summer" theme, one of my favorite pieces of music ever.

Sorry I was wrong about the "Chefs" thing--but at least the promo had subtitles!

Looking forward to the next over-the-top sushi special that they mentioned will be airng in October.

If you look at the edit history, you should see "Dotchman"....guess who?? hehe It's going to be a loooonnnngg work in progress unless other folks add some things. I'm still trying to figure out how much data Wiki wants.

It was in the commercials during the taiga dorama, maybe. It's going to be on two days in October, but I missed what days--the 14th and the ? at 8 PM, I think, but don't quote me! Er, as it were.

I'll try to add what I can, when I can. I'm looking at the Japanese Wiki page to see what I can extract.

Okay, the Seven Chefs will run for three weeks, so it'll probably be after that in the 8pm timeslot.

I just ran the Japanese IQ Supli page through Babelfish.....and Nut. I can somewhat understand what the page contains, so I'll try to update the English page based on what I read, and what I know watching it on KTSF and/or DVDs.

Looks like on a couple of October Sundays they'll be running the 2005 film "6,000 Visas for Life," about Sugihara Chiune (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiune_Sugihara). Although they gave the title in both Japanese and English, I don't expect it'll be subtitled ...

Odds are, that's probably the same documentary about Sugihara that was shown on KQED last year. If so... it was done in English.

Geezer, I could be wrong I don't think it is the same as the KQED one--the Wikipedia page mentions PBS' documentary, "Sugihara: Conspiracy of Kindness", and a Yomiuri TV film called "Visas for Life," so I'm guessing it's the latter, since the name matches and it definitely looks like a fictionalized "biopic" rather than a documentary.

I didn't see the previews, but I'm guessing it's going to be this one:

I believe they aired eps 25-26 (or was it 27-28) of Kaze no Haruka over the weekend. Just to give you an idea of where we are in the 151 ep marathon.

It was 25/26. I'm keeping track too....partly because, in case they skip an episode (the same idiot technicans from the Wakaba days may still be working at KTSF/FujiTV), I'll immediately know which tape to rent at JBC Video in J-town.

By the way, while I found "The Seven Chefs" rather forgettable, I actually enjoyed the gormet food special last Saturday. And, while it hasn't been subtitled, I've found Rondo on Sunday evenings rather good. For Umizaru, I've felt like I had to have seen the movie to really understand the characters.

And for 11:30 on Sunday, I wish TTV would find something more interesting than that boring NHK business show!

Thanks for the clarification. I'm actually trying to find it in Video-Eye @ Mitsuwa SJ, but so far, I've only seen Fight.

You didn't like Rindo-san?? hehe

I remember telling myself, "Would I pay ~$20 for 2 pieces of that "X" sushi?" They must have deep pockets, or deep holes in them.

I'd have to check, but there are subtitles for both on d-addicts. But of course, that's all moot considering the program is on the TV, not the computer.

I stopped watching after they dropped Hey!x3. Sweat

Okay, someone's writing down the addresses, right? I WANNA GO. (There have been a few things I did NOT want to eat, but 15 pieces of sushi for 800Y? Sign me up! More tuna than I could eat in a week for 3000Y? Sign me up again! I caught on that that one was in Misaki--famed for tuna--but that's all I caught. :p)

EDIT: Oh, dear. My husband wants to know if anyone has tapes of these (and the earlier one). hehe I doubt anyone's recording it, but if you are, I can send you money for tapes/discs and postage. Or we can meet up and I'll buy you coffee and snacks at Clover Bakery or something.

Say, Geezer, they must REALLY like you at Fuji TV. Isn't that Ikegami-Sho 5 they're showing next?
