Nakai Masahiro? Means SMAP won't be performing for once?

As I said above, it's "Sennen no koi." It's not on Jdorama.com because it was a movie, I guess. It stars Amami Yuki as Hikaru Genji, and is the story of the writing of "Genji Monogatari," with scenes from "Genji" interspersed. Or so I hear--I haven't seen it yet, but I've been wanting to for a while.

I love KTSF.

I was about to get upset tonight when I saw that they were re-running episode 42 of Komyo Ga Tsuji. But sometime during the commercial break someone must have caught the mistake because they simply switched tapes and showed episode 45 instead.

Yeah, we were this close to calling in. Bow

Guess they were checking to see if we were paying attention.

I'm really tired of this taiga dorama. It just doesn't seem to have the memorable characters and acting of "Musashi" or "Shinsengumi!", even though Nakama Yukie is very pretty and all. Now that our crazy warlords are all dead or offscreen, there's no spark left. Unlike some critics of the show, I do appreciate having a strong female protagonist for once, but it just seems to drag on. How much is left, anyway?

Maybe it's just me ...

EDIT: Okay, that was episode 47, so we only have two left, plus the two-part recap if they run it.

Woo, Kouhaku. I'm doing my annual writeup of it. I don't know who the judges are, though. Anyone? I mean, I got Watanabe Ken, and my other guess (my ear is poor) are Aki Yobo, Ririi ???, Fujiyama Naomi, Uchino Masaki, Yakomi Sakura, Taniguchi Tou, Ushida Miyako, no idea, and a nun whose name involved Setoichi, I think. I'm not sure on those names, so if you have corrections, please let me know. I'll google up who they are later.

That was Aki Yoko. I missed the intro but there was also Yokomine Sakura, Jakucho Setouchi, Arakawa Shizuka.

Right on. I see they also used it as the theme song for Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's latest dorama Buku no Aruku Michi that just aired on Fuji TV.

That Buddhist nun was the famous novelist, Setouchi Jakucho. You might remember the 3-part dorama about her life, which aired on KTSF last January on Sunday evenings. Here is a link to a good write-up about her:

http://www.japanjournal.jp/tjje/show_art.php?INDyear=06&INDmon=09&artid=2736659c52b077859498a05c6936779f

I noticed it also mentions that she likes to dance the awa-odori, which is the same dance that "Haruka" learned in order to take over the tour for her boss with the bad back.

Yeah, I'd just never SEEN her on TV before. Smile She did a Genji translation...One of the more interesting judges they've had, for sure.

Here's a writeup about what happened during the bizarre DJ OZMA sequence: http://japundit.com/archives/2007/01/01/4588/

Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu everyone! Now that I'm slowly recovering from a night of revelry, I've got a few questions about the Kouhaku from yesterday.

About 1:30 in, I don't remember the name of the female singer, but the screen went to a title card saying "Due to copyright issues, we are unable to broadcast the current images." WTF? Anyone care to explain that to this gaijin? And who was the non-Japanese guy in the "Let's Speak English!" segment? He looked really familiar.

And yeah, that DJ OZMA deal was interesting, to say the least. It had to be something out of the ordinary for KTSF to white it out and edit it so heavily. Watanabe-san and those boys from WaT looked as yummy as ever, though. Naughty
