I can see him the kitchen now....wearing his huge elvis glasses, cooking chopsticks in his hand which he holds like a microphone singing over a simmering pot of broth that he's cooking for the evening's pho.
From the gun T-shirt to the shiny & new gun bag by Dutch jeweler Ted Note. It is the ultimate funky, Gucci style accessory. It is beautiful, smooth, clean, slick, and menacing. Stripped down to all that a woman needs; not the lipstick, not Chanel No.5, not the platinum credit card. This bag is a statement. It is a bag for all to see, including the useless, unusable lethal weapon within. This is not merely a handbag. It is a sculpture, a surreal object, status bound. Does it display aggression towards men? Does it highlight women's vulnerability? What woman would have such a bag? The woman with the silver gun? The Super Rich Bitch?
There is something inertly primal in the way we collectively make choices. Advertising and multinationals shape our collective sameness. Are our eyes our own? Have we transplanted them onto some multinational to see for us? We wear a wedding ring to show that we are married. We wear a cross to show that we are religious. We pierce ourselves to show that we are anarchists. These are symbols of joining the club, a group of people who want to be identified as having commonality. We call it being an individual.
