Made the big mistake of watching the UCLA-Texas football game.
What an absolutely pathetic showing of football by the Bruins... Anyone with season tickets should demand a refund via the Lemon Law.
I think it is almost unconscionable that Rick Neuheisel has not been able to recruit a quality QB. Plus, given USC's probationary woes, you'd think UCLA would be able to take advantage of that and bring in quality recruiting classes but that doesn't seem to have happened.
In watching bits and pieces of the game, I thought the Bruins weren't well coached at all. And there appeared to be a lot of empty seats at the Rose Bowl which is not a good sign, especially considering UCLA was playing a high profile opponent. Looked like there were almost as many Texas fans who made the trek out to to California as there were UCLA fans.
More games this weekend got delayed or were shortened because of weather; definitely a highly uncommon trend that is plaguing this year's football season.
Navy played their hearts out but came up just short in upsetting SEC power South Carolina. The Midshipmen actually took the lead late in the third quarter, but was worn down by SC's running attack in the fourth quarter. However, another service academy--Army--did upset Big 10 Northwestern.
Number one ranked Oklahoma came away with a win against Florida State in a tough physical game that featured a ton of talent on both sides.
Two teams with tarnished reputations--Ohio State and Miami--played each other. The team with the more egregious violations, Miami, won.
Clemson beat Auburn, ending Division 1A's longest present winning streak. Very entertaining game in a great college football setting--Clemson's Death Valley.
The new current longest winning streak now belongs to Stanford which beat Arizona in a late evening game. Despite the comfortable margin of victory, I don't know if the Cardinal will be able to retain their lofty ranking in the Top 5 by season's end; they just don't play like a Top 5 team. I do hope I'm wrong.
Nebraska giving up 38 points to Washington should give Cornhusker fans a lot of concern. Yeah, they scored 51 against the Huskies, but will they be able to put up those kinds of offensive numbers when they begin Big 10 play?

I think most UCLA fans left after the first quarter... Prince had more interceptions than completions.
My brother and I were aghast... And the defense was a sieve.
He had gotten an invite to go to the game, but he passed on it... Wise choice, as it turned out.
Interesting stat of the week: Through three games, Baylor QB Robert Griffin III has thrown more TD passes (13) than incompletions (12). He's also completed 85% of his passes with no interceptions in leading the Bears to a 3--0 start.
Griffin has an interesting history. Born in Japan (his parents were both army sergeants), he graduated from high school one semester early in order to enroll at Baylor in the spring of 2008 at the age of 17. That semester, he competed on the university track team where he won the Big 12 championship in the 400-meter hurdles and placed third at the outdoor NCAA championships (he subsequently went to the Olympic trials where he made it to the semi-finals). Pretty impressive for someone who was basically a high school senior, and when you consider that in high school, they run the 300-meter hurdles, not the 400, his accomplishments that spring are even more eye-opening.
He's currently a redshirt junior (he missed the 2009 season due to injury), and has been the starting QB from his freshman year.
Oh yeah, it only took him three years to earn his bachelor's degree (poli sci).

Colts put up a valiant fight against the Steelers, but the near-total lack of offense costs them: they lose 23-20.
Yup totally agreed ..the defense was doing their thing on the field and then there was the offense... so u can say with #18 the offense is bad It was just to much to sit and watch the offense play _________________

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Former Seattle Seahawks center Joe Tofflemire has died of heart failure, according to his brother Paul Tofflemire. He was 46.
Tofflemire was the Seahawks second-round pick in the 1989 draft. His injury-plagued career lasted until 1995. His 33 appearances were concentrated mostly in 1990 and 1992.
Joe Tofflemire played in college at the University of Arizona, where his brother Paul followed, giving the Wildcats a Tofflemire starting at center for seven years.
