PostPosted: Fri Mar 19, 2010 8:29 pm    Post subject: Looking for the Name of a Drama from the Late 1970s Reply with quote Back to top

I know that this was before most people's time, but I am trying to find the name of a drama on TV in California in 1980, which means it was probably on TV in Japan in the late 1970s. My guess is that it was translated by someone for KIKU TV, but they have removed their archives from their Website. It was a romance with a character named Shiro who had returned from an absence with amnesia. Is there anyone out there old enough to remember this? It doesn't appear on the Wiki-D list for the last couple of years of the 1970s that I can tell, either. Thanks.

Hello. I forgot the name of a drama or movie I watched some time ago but I remember a few scenes very well. Please let me know if you know the name of this movie or drama.

Two major characters:
Schoolgirl. She has a mentally handicapped brother who is a little large. Her mother is rarely seen.
Guy: a low level yakuza? he has a large tatoo on his back of a pheonix. he says it is not complete and who ever he trusts the most will get the second half and together they complete the picture.

The first thing I remember is there is a schoolgirl that meets up with an older man in a hotel. He thinks she's going to do him some favors but that was never her intention and they just talk and he eventually falls asleep. She leaves while he sleeps. When he wakes up he immediately reaches to check if his wallet is missing. But she did not want his money. He finds a picture or a note on the table instead.

There is a scene where the guy and the schoolgirl are having sex in some building and her brother stands on some boxes outside and looks through the window and sees them. he feels really uncomfortable from the sight. Worried, scared angry he hates the guy with her. The brother then climbs a tall smokestack or other structure in his underwear and threatens to jump. (here there is a flashback the brother has of his dad hanging imself from the same structure) The whole town gathers and finally the yakuza guy goes up to him to try and talk him down.

One of the final scenes is the girl goes to her grandpa (i think) who does old style tattoos using sticks and bone needles. The yakuza guy is there to comfort her as she lays in a tatami room and gets her whole back tattooed with the second half of the yakuza guy's tattoo.

The show ends with the two of them driving away in a car around a bunch of fields.

It sounds weird but it was a psychological show and really interesting.

I hope someone can help me.

Hey there Smile

I also forgot the name of a drama I've watched some years ago.
I just remember that the plot revolved around a single woman around her 30s (or maybe mid-20s) who works in an office somewhere in Tokyo.
The particular thing about her is, that she seems to be the perfect, hard-working japanese woman but at home she puts her track-pants on, chills, drinks beer all day long and hardly cleans up her house.
I also remember that at some point of the drama, her boss moves into her house, lives with her, and tries to change her. And of course the love story between her and some good-looking co-worker who fell in love with her because she seems to be that perfect.

I hope these are enough information so you can help me Smile

Hi All

I am looking for the name of a series about a woman who is a bit of an otaku and being a bit lazy she only wears one set of work clothes. She hangs the clothes up so that they don't get creased. My friend told me about the series a couple of years back and now he cant seem to remember the name. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Isn't that sort of like the drama mentioned above, Hotaru no Hikari?
