Atsuro Watabe & Ryoko Hirosue are in this new TBS drama and it's not doing well. This is being aired in Japan now. The rating doesn't look good for both stars. From 11%, 9%, 8.1%, 8.8% to 4.2%!!!! I'm a Ryoko fan but I think Atsuro's look is not suitable for leading roles. He can be good in a detective or a gangster show. I think TBS should find some other leading man. Well, he is in one drama after another! In addition, last season's First Love's rating was not good either! Or the scripts are really bad!

It has been a tough year for dorama producers and stars. Ratings are low in general plus the World cup event. Monday prime time's dramas usually gets the hottest stars and the highest rating. This season is the same. YUKO TAKEUCHI's Luncheon queen is the leader of the pack.

Well, HR has been away for almost a year,"Concentrated on singing" and the story is about how a blind person person who inhereted a large sum of money and AW is trying to take it from her... Maybe darker/sad dramas are no well received these days considered a lot of bad things happened in the world. (i.e. 911, wars, stock market crashes) Maybe Japanese fans are more into lighter family oriented or comedic dramas.

I think the Japanese title is :

"Lunch No Joou (Jyoou)".
: Yuko Takeuchi, Satoshi Tsumabuki, Eguchi Yosuke, Tsutsumi Shinichi, Tomohisa Yamashita

BTW,.. I got many good reviews about this new Jdrama in Japan (still airing in Japan now, this season drama, July until September 2002).
It called "Satorare". "Satorare" is a drama that combines romance, humour, fantasy, humanity, social issues, etc.
It's starring Odagiri Jyoe and Tsuruta Mayu.
Previously, Satorare has already made into a movie version and based from a comic (anime/manga).
I wish I can watch "Satorare" someday. ^_^

Ryoko Hirosue - Latest News

Her recording contract will soon expired. The record company will not renew their contract. Her last single only had 30K copy sold!

Entertainment business is tough. She had bad press, $ problem with the management co, Record co is not signing her, she is not doing well in university either and her current dorama is not doing well in rating. I think actors should go after it when they are still hot. Come think of it, her last popular show was Dekichatta Kekkon (Shortgun Marriage) and it wasn't that long ago. Entertainment business is so cruel!
