Looks like it's the end of the line for Godzilla:

Hideki Matsui cut by Tampa Bay

NEW YORK (AP) -- Hideki Matsui was been cut by the Tampa Bay Rays.

The 38-year-old Japanese star was designated for assignment on Wednesday to clear a roster spot for infielder Ryan Roberts. The Rays have 10 days to trade Matsui, release him or place him on waivers.

He is hitting .147 with two homers and seven RBIs in 95 at-bats.

After trouncing and sweeping the Giants, the Dodgers get trounced by the D-backs, 7-2. Sad

Fortunately, the Giants lost to the Mets, 8-7, so it's still tied up at the top of the NL West.

Dodgers acquire OF Shane Victorino from Phillies

Nearly eight years after losing Shane Victorino to the Philadelphia Phillies in the Rule 5 draft, the Los Angeles Dodgers acquired the switch-hitting outfielder Tuesday morning near the trading deadline.

Shane Victorino is batting .261 with nine homers in 101 games. In exchange for reliever Josh Lindblom and Double-A right-hander Ethan Martin, the Dodgers added Victorino to play left field and bat leadoff less than a week after trading for Miami Marlins third baseman Hanley Ramirez.
