Today's contestants: katsuo (bonito) vs. sazae (turban shell)....

Recognizable celebrities: Watanabe Ken, Kikukawa Rei, Katase Rino (Oko from Musashi), and that SMAP guy. hehe

This episode was wild: going into the final presentation it was 6-1 in favor of the sazae...

And the winner??

Katsuo, 4-3. hehe Applaud

I was rooting for the katsuo... The only mollusk I'd eat is tako (octopus)...

It was pretty amazing seeing that 60-year old woman diving for those shells... Whew. Sweat

Hmm, can't remember when it started down here... I do know that the English subs just started several months ago...

The show just started: saba miso (mackerel in miso) vs. niku jyaga (potato beef). They both look soooo good. Puppy Dog Eyes I'm hungry now.

Oh, no subs.

Hmm, so you guys get it on Sunday.... Can't recall if I saw that episode or not... Any recognizable celebs aside from the regular guy, Tsuyoshi?

Not a big fan of saba, so I'd vote for the niku jyaga. Smile

It's funny how you refer to him that way. I guess it just stuck. Big Grin

The result? Miso mackerel beats potato beef, 6-1.

I guess that's my sly commentary on his significance. Or SMAP's. hehe

They're a music group but they do a buncha other stuff (act, cook, etc.)... They're sort of a Japanese version of the Monkees... hehe

The group consists of hearthrob Kimura Takuya, food guy Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, that Shingo guy, and the other guy who never smiles and looks sorta mean and I don't know his name.... Beaten

And the winner is.....

Miso.... by a landslide... 7-0

I started to side with the mayo after I saw that fried fish and beef, but then they had that miso rice ball and the fish which pushed me over in the end.

Yow, the shutout surprised me... I still can't decide which one I would've chosen...

Seeing that woman make the mayo sorta weirded me out, especially seeeing her soak those eggs in the vinegar until the shells essentially dissolved away... Yeech. bleh

She was cute, not hot, IMO... The other two girls were ehhhhh, especially the older one... She reminded me of Cyndi Lauper. Nut
