An upset: Pizza defeats Takoyaki, 5-2.

I didn't think pizza had a chance, even though I was rooting for the pizza. Wink

Being in Japan, they're probably knee-deep in takoyaki, so they went for something that's not as available.

Also, the judges were a younger crew: an older group of judges would've surely chosen takoyaki...

One of the guests looked like the regular judge on Iron Chef Japan. Was it her?

Haha, no problem. I have a big crush on him, and I'm not afraid to say so. Even in this thread where they're always bashing him.

Man, I thought the takoyaki looked really good! I was pretty surprised by the outcome. Makes sense though, because it was mostly pretty young people. The pizza did look pretty good, but not as good as the takoyaki! Big Grin

Hardly.

They were really ga-ga about the Porcini mushrooms, though. Wink

A generation of American kids is going to grow up thinking those are called "donuts". Bonk

Other recent Japanese food name massacres, this time from {{{[{E{[{{:

  • natto I forget what they called this: sesame seeds with gum or something

Once they're posted, I'll start cracking on the names. Thumbsup
I don't think you have to: the flashed the names of each of the judges this time... Thumbsup
The problem with Japanese names is you can't always tell how they're pronounced from the way they're written. For example, I have a pretty complete Churasan character list, but a few characters are missing romanizations for their surnames because their names, as written, don't have unique pronunciations and because I don't remember how they were pronounced in the show.

That's true, but if they are mainstream artistes, I can make a reasonable stab at the name. I'll take a look at your Churasan list and see if I can hopefully fill some of the blanks. Smile

Well... I still like to see him loose... It's so fun to see him loose. But... Yeah. ..... Don't like him more than Shunsuke, though. ( that's a given x.x ) Oh! I love your John avatar! He's my favorite of the Beatles. =D

I can't help but think of Pokemon... Where they called a rice ball/onigiri a... Donut, a sandwich, and then just a rice ball. ...... Wierd dubbing people.

What we're wondering is, why is he a regular? And why is there no regular who's female (and gorgeous, of course)?

I was thinking they should get Kou Shibasaki. The first time Smappy changed sides and caused her to be on the losing side, she would walk right over and beat the living s**t out of him! Twisted

She'd have to get in line for that: other judges wanna smack that boy down as well. hehe
