I thought it was doing the samething with IE. I never use the buttons anymore for this reason. It's faster to type it instead of pressing the button and copy/paste it. Sad

Most of the time it is, but if you're pasting some text from another source and want to perform formatting on sections of the text, it's a total pain in the ass without the use of the buttons...

Hmm, could this problem be a result of the server migration? Head Scratch

As I suspected: I tried out the formatting buttons at a different forum and they work fine and also the buttons work fine here when I use IE... So there's some queer thing going on with Firefox and this forum... Puppy Dog Eyes

This forum appears to be customized alot, it's not very accurate to compare it to another forum.

Works fine for me anyways, if it was a site problem it would be messing up for everyone.

You're using Firefox and the formatting buttons work when you select text?

I see what you mean about that part, but I don't see how that could be caused by a server migration.

I think it's a coding issue, I've seen alot of sites that act differently with firefox and ie due to the way they handle code differently.

I think a good example is below:

Try moving your mouse over the middle area on firefox and ie, you will see what I mean.

It was just speculation on my part.

I'll buy that... This site is out of the ordinary. Smile

Agh, this oddity with the editor/formatting is bugging the hell out of me... Looks like I'll have to use IE when I'm here at J-D... Grumble

Switching over now....

There's always the IE tab extension. It opens IE in a tab. Smile

Hmm, not sure if this is a J-D/Firefox bug or not: I noticed that when I view a thread then return to the main forum page, the thread below it is unhilighted as if I viewed it, which I did not... Head Scratch

It's happened to me a number of times. I think I ended up viewing threads from the bottom up.

Yup, that's been my workaround.

Somewhat related is that the "View Newest Post" icon per thread shows me the newest post since I logged in, even if I have already viewed that thread.

I'm expecting it to show me the newest posts since I last viewed the thread.

It's happening to me right now on Firefox. Even the bottom up approach is not working.

It seems apparent that something happened to this site last night... But what?

Looks like they completely moved datacenters, as I'm getting a totally new ip address for the site.

Apologies for not putting an announcement, the previous datacenter messed up a couple of things, so we moved to a new one.

All's fine so far?

The migration could account for problems I previously posted. Everything seems to work, albeit at a much slower pace. I'm also getting more 'blank page effect' - when I change to a new page, could be something as simple as clicking on the JDorama logo to take me back to the top page, I sometimes get a blank page. Reloading works everytime but I still wonder why that happen. BTW I'm also using FireFox.

If pages are loading slow you probably don't have a connection that's able to handle loading pages here, if you have fasterfox on firefox make sure you turn the settings down otherwise it will slow you down even more.

Thanks for the tip. However I don't use Fasterfox at all. I haven't touched any of my settings at all and access slowed down since around 10 days ago. I now attributed that to the server migration but if there is anyting else I should test please give me some hints.

Do you live in China like your tag says?
"Location: Shanghai, China"

If so that might explain alot, I know if I load a site that is hosted in China it will load ALOT slower than a site in the United States which is where I live. It's possible that the old datacenter had better routing to China which would make the load times faster, however you could do a traceroute and maybe I could see something.

You can try doing a traceroute to the old datacenter and the new one.
