Looks like the age of the Lakers is gone. Usher in the age of the Golden STate Warriors.. Or Maybe not. _________________

I just wish they'd pull the trigger on the Damp deal. Get us a decent back-up for Dunleavy, and we'll be ready to roll.
I'm actually starting to think that the play-off drought will end this year.
Yea I really hope so. Too bad Muss isnt at the helm anymore. I really wanted to see him bring the W's to the playoffs. Anyways Damp to the Knicks? Looks like that's what the rumors say but next offseason will be real nice since the W's will be under the cap finally!

Damp to the Knicks would be cool with me. Heck, just Damp gone will be great by me.
As long as we get a decent SF in return. (I'm ticked they let Cardinal go.)
As for losing Mussleman... I won't miss him. I think the team Mully is putting together fits a whole lot better with Montgomery.
Yea they should have resigned cardinal! They lost boykins the year before and now no more cardinal. That's such crap!
Anyways I really hope Monty doesnt turn out to be another pitino. College coaches frankly scare me. I liked what Mussleman did with the W's and who could blame him for missing the playoffs given what he had to work with. Although I'm a stanford and montgomery fan, I got a pretty short string on him so he better impress.
A college coach having any sucess in the pros is like 1 in a 100. Even the great god Pitino was lousy and had to crawl back to the campus. The reason they are sucessful in college is usually there strict disciplinarians. But, with High schoolers getting multi million dollar deals. No, is intimidated by what somebody did in college. The players do what they want.

Yea, totally true. Coach K was smart to stay at Duke.
Also in the pros, they're a lot faster, stronger, and smarter. In college, you might be playing against a team with maybe 1 or 2 guys that have the athletic ability as an NBA player and the rest could just be crap but in the pros everyone is just as athletic so the competition is on a much more equal playing field.

Lakers are toast.
Remember, it wasn't just Shaq and Phil that departed... Jerry West also left the other season, and Jerry had the moxy to draft Kobe in the first place.
The NBA really looks up for grabs for 2004-2005. Detroit, San Antonio, and a few others will be contenders, but there really isn't one overwhelming favorite this year.
Yeah, Duncan is the man. A good example for other players as well as people in general: hard work, clean living, etc. Laughed my a-- off the other year when Jim Rome ripped Duncan and said the Spurs wouldn't win another playoff game -- then the Spurs won the title.

The Spurs should have beat the LAkers. WIth a distracted Kobe, a fat SHAQ, hurt Malone and seemingly ancient Payton. The came out fast. Once the Lakers started getting physical they just PUNK'd out (and I am a fan of SPURS out of the western conference). I thought David Robinson was 10 years past his prime , but he still added a little toughness. The SPURS have been exposed as playing to soft. I'ts going to be wide open year. I may have to switch my Western fav to Yao and McGrady

I pretty much agree. They got physical with Tony Parker and he disappeared along with most of the Spurs... And that incredible shot by D-Fish sent them reeling...

Was wondering when'd we get an NBA thread
Kudos to Pippin! I remember watching him play with Jordan during those championship runs. Great player and one of the class acts of the NBA. Congrats to him and good luck to whatever new occupation he plans to take up
