Dallas loses to Miami, 92-84. Sad

One of the keys was Miami outrebounding Dallas on the offensive glass, 16-6. Shake Head

If Mavericks are to get back into this series, they will have to play better than that.
I watched most of the game, and I honestly can say, Heat played better in almost every area, especially the bench production. Mike Miller, Haslem, and Chalmers were producing on offense and defense, while Mav's bench, other than Jason Terry's 12 point's in the first half, otherwise Mav's came out flat. Simply this series will be short, as I said, 5 games, maybe 6 if Mav's play tough on their home floor, otherwise it will be Lebron/Wade's time to shine with a Championship. Mav's do not have a second scorer that can create off the dribble which puts Nowitzki in constant double teams, and JJ barea was stone cold and useless in their loss. It is Wade-Lebron's massive shutdown defense on Nowitzki and Jason Terry, and Wade-Lebron's close-out offense that will tilt the series greatly in Miami's favor. The game was slow, and both teams shot a dismal 35-36% for awhile, but Lebron turned it up, then Wade as they took turns, Miami's bench poured it on, and Bosh scored inside some too. The Mavericks never really turned it on much, despite a short-lived 8 point lead early in the third, negated by 2 back-to-back turnovers that lead to easy miami buckets that got them back in it quickly. As badly as Mav's played, they were in it until the last 4 min's, as Heat put them away. It'll be almost impossible to extremely difficult to slow down the trio, and somehow get Maverick's offense punch going that got them this far. Miami Heat are just too tough defensely, and their offense is just way too tough for any opponent, even as tough is Mav's have been so far. If Mav's cannot adjust in game #2, or atleast hold homecourt and play tougher Defense, and more better shooting, then this series might be a sweep or over in 5 games. But I expected Wade-Lebron to win the opener, and they did, and held Mav's to 37% shooting. I don't expect the percentages to be as low as it did in game#1, but I also think the trio will be scoring better too to offset any Dallas attack. More and more I am believing that Miami will take this series quickly, and it will be another 2006 Finals, with the same result.

Sad

I hope you're wrong.

It'll be a cold day in hell if the Heat win it all. bleh

Supposedly Shaq has Tweeted that he's retiring.

He stopped playing basketball a number of years ago, from my vantage point.

EDIT: Someone posted on Yahoo! that his next career will be a Kentucky Derby jockey.

^^ Sigh, think about the poor horse. Shameful Cry Maybe it'd be better if he raced camels. Nut
Have to agree with qilver, Heat are just playing so well especially on defense, unless one of the stars on the Heat get hurt could be over in 5 games, rooting for the Mavs but it's sort of obvious what an uphill battle it will be for them. Sweat

Dirk Nowitzki scores the last nine points for Dallas and they beat the Heat, 95-93. Applaud

For the last 25 seconds, I thought Jason Terry lost the game for them by getting totally lost on defense.... Dirk bailed out his dumb ass.

i heard that Shaq got paid for his 19 years, but really played for 14 of them, the last 5 were injury-ridden seasons. I thought he probably could've gone out more in his prime, but opt'd to stay beyond his years in the league, now the league is better without him, he over-stayed his welcome. Who knows where he will be next, somewhere where he can get into the spotlight for the attention.

Absolutely.

And it's totally attributable to his weight and lack of conditioning... Zero work ethic.

I was ready to give that game up, as Miami was up huge with 6 minutes left, but Dallas steals one in Miami, and closing out game #2 on a 22-5 run, to take it. I am honestly shocked that they even had a chance to win, let alone actually winning game #2. Miami really deserved it overall in game #2. Dallas coughed up their earlier 9pt short-lived lead only to see Wade tie it at the half 51 all.
I thought Dallas did step up and played better in a lot of areas coming out strong, yet they did show a lot of weaknesses, especially in the turnovers. A lot of careless turnovers that led to easy layups, furious slam dunks by Wade-Lebron, and too many open looks and offense rebound slams put backs. I still think Dallas needs to play better defensively, grab the boards, and run a better offense, and take care of the ball more. Holding Miami to one-shot might help too. Going back to Dallas, game #3 pressure is back on the Mav's to hold ground. I do think Miami could atleast steal 1 to regain homecourt, even 2 of 3 to take a comanding lead back to Miami to close it out in game #5. But Dallas need to come out even more strong than in game #2, to win these home court games against a very tough opponent.
Even if Dallas surprised me with a victory, they did what they wanted to do, and are going back home tied 1-1, but its now anyones series, but all the pressure is on Dallas to hold home court. I still think the advantage goes to Lebron as they have too much fire-power with wade and bosh.
Dallas at times looked stagnant and were not flowing, Dirk ended with a good shooting night, but at first looked out of sink. If Dirk is not on the floor, and they are turning it over, this series could end quickly with 3-straight victories for Miami, but if Dallas can turn it up as they did at the end in game #2, then it will be a dogfight, perhaps in Dallas' favor, we'll just have to wait and see who will take the possible pivotal game #3.

Another key to Dallas winning the game: they out-rebounded Miami 41-30, 11-6 on the offensive glass.

Dallas was very competitive, but on more than one occasion they let it slip as they fell behind to double digits, they by a big hold with 6 min's left. They stormed back, very surprisingly with good solid D, and a few Miami, yet seemingly rare mishaps and bad decisions by Miami, which led to better flowing, and taking better care of the ball for Dallas, which fed into their rhythm offense, and great passing from Kidd, on the pick and roll with Dirk, and some good clutch shots by J-Terry, although an almost costly huge back defense cover which led to a wide WIDE open 3 by chalmers for the Heat, Dirk redemption shot bailed out Terry big time, as Dirk shocked everyone, mostly the Heat. But I expect Lebron will quickly bounce back and they'll be more than ready to try to steal some games from Dallas, in Dallas for next three games. Dallas better be ready to go, otherwise it'll be the never ending Miami uphill battle that Dallas will have to climb.

I doubt that anything will take out any of the big-three, it'll have to be team to team, and great Dallas Defense, and set offense that will help Dallas with any chance to get the trophy from the Heat. I still say Miami will probably win it in 5 or 6 games, now more like in 6 or maybe 7 games, but who knows now. I expected a Miami blowout in game #2, and it almost was, until they crumbled, almost like the Mavericks did earlier in the 4th quarter, as Mav's turned it back on, just in time to win the game.

another key for them to win the next games at home as well, take care of the ball(much less turnovers), agressive play(more free throws), and good quality open decent looks for your offense.

and an over inflated ego, alongside Kobe during that era, Lakers made the only choice possible at the time, by letting him go, which i thought was a wise decision at the time, and keep Kobe.

I read in the paper, that wherever Shaq went to, he had not ended things well, every time he left, so a lot of issues between player and organization doesn't bode well for any team.

It was absolutely the right decision: two more championships. Victory! Peace!

Shaq was getting old AND fat... Everyone in the Laker organization knew he was going downhill.

Not surprised, since Shaq was all about himself and nothing else.

EDIT: I just saw that the Lakers are going to retire his number... Of all those currently hanging in the rafters, Shaq is the least deserving, IMO. bleh

Come on now. Let's be fair. The reason he was going downhill was to pick up that bucket of hot wings that he ordered for takeout.
