Good riddance. Shaq's a big fat spoiled baby. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, crybaby.

i agree with shaq's asking to be traded. i dont like it, but i have to agree with his reasoning. management in the lakers organization has gone to crap. mitch kupchak is stupid, and so is jerry buss. why would you choose between your two stars? i mean, you can have your personal opinion, but dont make it known out there. the fact that he told shaq that they are gonna go after kobe because hes the #1 priority and to deal with it, thats just messed up. i mean, shaq probly knows hes not in the best shape of his career. we all know that. kobe is entering his prime. because of this, kobe will be the future. however, without shaq, kobe cannot win a championship in a huge western conference. if kupchak and buss had kept their mouths shut, they wouldnt be in this situation. now they may possibly be a mediocre team until they have a small chance at yao in 2007.

bottom line, shaq + kobe = dominance, kobe alone = gonna lose to the spurs, wolves, kings, and rockets.

stupid buss...........

another thing, this trade with miami is stupid because they arent getting what they need. the west is filled with big men. that's why they needed shaq. but now they'll be getting odom (small forward), grant (way undersized center, actually a power forward out of position), butler (small forward), and a first round draft pick in possibly 2007 (means absolutely nothing because with shaq in the east, the pick will be a late first round pick because these guys are gonna go to the playoffs with wade and shaq). they are just trying to unload shaq as quickly as possible. kupchak + buss = kobe's bitches

I see your point, but Shaq's just as much to blame... He has no dedication to the game whatsoever and has done NOTHING to get in shape other than shove more Hershey bars into his pie hole... The Big Crybaby wants respect, but doesn't do squat to deserve it, and just gives people attitude...

Sure, he might be still the most dominant player in Miami as well, only 'cause he can wag his fat ass around, but he'll NEVER be regarded as the best center to ever play the game. NEVER.

I'll reserve it for the likes of Russell, Chamberlain, and Jabbar....

It's official: Shaq is off to Miami.

No dedication, no loyalty. Just 375 pounds of ego and greed.

Good riddance.

I second that! I used to be a big Lakers fan, especially when Magic & Kareen were still playing, but ever since they got Kobe & Shaq I just hate them! Angry I don't know that I'll start liking the Lakers again anytime soon, but I'm definitely not gonna rooting for Miami! Shake Head

Look for Shaq to drop 50+ pts on the lakers. hehe

He might even give Kobe a flagrant when he drives down the lane. I swear those two guys are gonna go all out and kill one another when they meet at staples center.

As long as the Lakes win the game, Shaq can score 100...

Well, if Shaq does that to Kobe, it'll really prove what a no-class doofus he really is.

A little late on the response to the trade since I've been busy yesterday but since I am a Kings and Warriors fan I am all for this trade! hehe It only helps me but personally I would have to say LA messed up. Shaq is by far the most dominant force in the game. The lakers just lost the most dominant player, that can't be good in any situation. The warriors once traded wilt chamberlain... what the hec were they thinking Beaten

Not that this could turn out to be the same scenario but it's always been my belief that if you trade a superstar then you better GET a superstar in return. Odom, and grant are certainly NOT superstars. Butler could be but that's a work in progress. The 2007 pick is a joke. Let's face it, the NBA draft sucks nowadays give or take 1 or 2 picks on a yearly bases. Anyways, it's kinda sad that my Kings couldnt get another shot at a Lakers team with Shaq but they can certainly take vlade back since I want him OUT of sac town hehe hehe

You have to remember that the NBA is a business, so no one is really safe from a trade, particularly nowadays...

The Lakers may have had the most dominant player, yet they only won three championships out of those eight years he was there... Don't forget that basketball is a TEAM sport... If Shaq doesn't have the players to suport him in Miami, what good is dropping 50+ points a game if you still lose? Chamberlain had the same problem when he scored all those points with the Philadelphia Warriors. It wasn't until he started playing TEAM ball and had a good TEAM surrounding him did he win his first championship...

If Shaq dumps 50+ in the Lakes, fine. As long as the Lakes win the game.

Cool trade.

Now how do we get Kobe to run Tim Duncan out of the West?

I think the bottom line of it all comes down to whether the Lakers are a better team w/o Shaq and the answer clearly is no. Right now I don't see them any better than a 5th seed and with some of the other lower teams getting better, the Lakers may even fall to a 6th or 7th in the West. Of course we'll have to see how they perform but personally I didn't see a problem with Shaq but with Kobe and the rest of managment. The whole team flat out gave up. I can't blame the big guy for wanting to leave.

Yeah, but they need a guy who's mobile and dedicated, not a guy who wants more money after he's had his least productive season in the NBA... He's gotten full of himself after those three championships.

Okay, Miami undoubtedly will be better this season, but a champion? No. He still needs players to support him, dominant or no.

I disagree. If Shaq was the leader he said he was he shoulda made the team better instead of whining about "touches." Magic was a GREAT player because he always put the team first and never let his ego get in the way of the team's succcess. Kobe is undoubtedly selfish at times, but at least he's dedicated to the game...

Rudy T's got a big job ahead of him.
