Victory! Peace! there's this really awesome Chinese Chicken Salad place here in L.A. called Feast of the East...when i go there for salads if you don't want the chicken in your salad they replace with slices of ganmo tofu....pretty tasty!

no one is stupid for asking that! i didn't know what it was either until recently...it's a type of tofu ususally deep-fried tofu mixed with chopped vegetables:

In fact the word ganmo actually means "mock goose", and this tasty tofu was originally developed by chefs who longed for the flavor of wild goose meat, a delicacy once forbidden to all but the Japanese nobility.

Mock Goose...kawaii! I've been called worse, so that's actually quite cute!

(and no, Anime Dad...no such thing as a stupid question...).

Truthfully, I've heard of ganmo and the pics look familiar but I can't remember if I've ever eaten it or not. Might have when I was really young...?

it's great i've only had it once at this hole in the wall soba place in L.A....the place was filled with Japanese salarymen who go there because of the daily freshmade white soba made with sarashina flour imported from Japan....

for locals it's a place called Otafuku in Gardena, CA

We've had freakishly warm weather this week. All in the pluses. But today it's gotten a bit bitter. Not cool when it's unexpected after a week of warmth, ya know?
