I just found out that the Japanese BBQ place Gyu Kaku (at their Beverly Hills location) will actually be serving authentic Japanese wagyu (i.e. Kobe Beef) flown in from Japan today and tomorrow in celebration of Christmas.

Picked this up at Mitsuwa today....organic soba....from a well established Japanese company called Hakubaku that moved its manufacturing facilities to Australia to be close to the wheat fields I guess. They make soba, somen, ramen, and udon.

This is dried backwheat noodle.
In Japan, we have the custom to eat it 31 Dec with friends or family for long friendship and health.

i've eaten at that gyu kaku numerous times....the food generally isn't so expensive but yeah, dunno how much that "shimofuri" <"frost fall"...in reference to the intense marbling> cost.

for you, there's a gyu kaku close to home....near the torrance/lomita border....the food is delicious.
