Seems like the long awaited arrival of actual noodles at Tsujita on Sawtelle is nearly upon us.

I read on the internet that they actually created a temporary pop up ramen restaurant at the Mitsuwa food court in Santa Monica to prepare for lunch service of ramen and tsukemen at their permanent location on Sawtelle Blvd.

Went to go check it out and tried a bowl of their tonkotsu ramen. Good, good stuff. A rich satisfying broth with tender, delicious chashu. I added some sesame seeds and spicy pickles at the recommendation of the cashier.

Way better than Shinsengumi's Hakata Ramen in Little Tokyo if you ask me.

Funny that the sheet of nori had a thank you message on it.

Hehe. The ink was made from ground pork bone dust mixed with pig ear oil.

Very apropos, considering you had tonkotsu ramen.

Restaurant Cooks Up World's Biggest Burger

Anyone with a massive appetite, $2,000, and a death wish can order up an "Absolutely Ridiculous Burger" from Mallie's Sports Grill & Bar.

But, as the Detroit News reports, that burger, which weighs 319 pounds, isn't quite as gargantuan as the one the restaurant cooked up on Thursday.

The 338 pound beast of a burger is expected break the Guinness World Record for largest burger, once it gets certified.

CNN reports that the burger loses about 100 pounds of grease when it's cooked down. The sandwich also has 15 pounds of lettuce, 30 pounds of bacon, 30 pounds of tomatoes and 36 pounds of cheese. It takes 22 hours to cook, according to the Detroit News.

Hope he's feeling better. Last time I got food poisoning was earlier this year while traveling abroad. Not fun.

I didn't care for the hibachi beef so he took it instead.

And I'm happy to say he is feeling better. But now I don't want to go back. Sad

Don't make me jealous! Smile So how is their karaage? I've only ever been there for lunch so I've never had the pleasure of trying anything other than the ramen or gyoza.

Looks delicious...but then that's obvious. Smile

I thought it was quite good: crisp on the outside, tender and juicy inside... Chicken Nuggets don't even compare.

My brother had the spicy tonkotsu ramen and my sister-in-law had the shoyu ramen... Both of them enjoyed it, particularly the texture of the ramen: al dente. Victory! Peace!

Not sure why, but this third time there really impressed me... Maybe because of who I had dinner with: my bro and sis-in-law are ramen aficionados and we talked about the food while we were eating. Smile

Oh, I also noticed that Mottainai changed their table layout: less individual tables and one large community table... I guess more individuals than groups show up.
