You got me there. Perhaps March 2012 is the date for wide release.

Ah, that's probably it.

Still, five months is a long time...

Considering it already hit the film festival circuit, I'd have to agree with you.

Probably a better burger. Wink

In Short Order
Burgers and Booze at the Farmers Market

Youfll have to excuse us. This one just couldnft wait any longer. You see, it involves burgers.

Finally, itfs time to talk about the yearfs most anticipated burger joint\Short Order opens next Friday at the Farmers Market. We repeat: mark your calendars. Call your carnivorous friends. November 18 at 5pm. Itfs on.

In case youfve been drowning in Kardashian updates, allow us to remind you that Nancy Silverton is involved with this burger. As in the Mozzas. As in, if she and her partners can now do for burgers what the Mozzas have done for Italian... well, youfre going to really like this place.

Youfll find it on the Third Street side of the Farmers Market next to the Grove\it looks like a rustic two-story farmhouse. But this is the first farmhouse with a walk-up burger window. (That we know of.) So quick lunch takeout: they can do that.

But we recommend coming over here after a movie and stowing away in the upstairs dining room. Order some drinks. Fill up your table with custard shakes, pies, chocolate chip cookies. And absolutely order the namesake burger. The veggie-fed beeffs mostly from Sonoma farms\some providing just six animals a year. Youfve got a few topping options (mushrooms, bacon), and your patty could actually be lamb, tuna, turkey or pork.

Consider this your burger homework assignment for November.

Ah, yes. Now you're thinking. Applaud It may be a bit frou frou but if they have a quick order take out window I'm thinking it's not too uppity. I'm sure it won't be cheap for a burger but if Mozza is any indication of quality and taste, it should be worth a visit IMHO.

After Umami Burger's well documented success, "gourmet burger" (I know probably an oxymoron) joints have been popping up everywhere. Don't think anything will replace In-n-Out in terms of quality & value on short order (no pun intended Beaten) but some of these places turn out really good burgers, albeit more expensively.

I've gone to Umami Burger a number of times, and enjoyed it, but it's obviously not a go-to place, at least in my estimation, for cheap, good eats, because it's not really cheap, but it is good.

For me when I think of a sit-down restaurant with good food the thought of burgers isn't the first thing that comes to mind, especially given the epicurean diversity that Los Angeles is now deservedly famous for.
