Who like takoyaki? This is a dish that Osaka is famous for. Very easy to make and tasy as well. For all you closet Kansai people, here is the recipe: (a lot of times, osaka families have their own family recipe of the takoyaki, and are fircely proud of their own)
[Takoyaki (octopus balls)]
1) Mix flour, egg, water, and bonito broth to make dough.
2) Place dough in round takoyaki cooker.
3) Add octopus and flip until all sides are cooked.
4) Spread sauce on takoyaki. Add mayonaise, seaweed flakes and bonito flakes as you like.
Learn about it more here.
Or you can make you own in this game. Enjoy!
I havent tried it yet as I dont know where to get one. But do they actually use octopus? I though they use squid...
So, im gonna abstain on voting right now... _________________

I LOVE Takoyaki!!!!!!!!!!!! Yummy!!!!!!
How bout this: I buy one for you and one for me, so there's no sharing of the same "platter" (Yeah, it's like THAT! I'm greedy with food! ). I love them too, and I want one that's all mine! The only time when I hate it is that sometimes they're be cheap with the tako and put in a small one, then you wouldn't know if there was any in there it'd be so small.

Where in Hawaii can you get some??? I've never tried it before, but it sounds like something I'd love to try. I keep seeing references to this snack in Jdoramas, especially Kinpachi Sensei because it's Masanori's favorite (Mr. Sakamoto unknowingly torchers him everytime he brings it with him to the hospital because Masanori isn't allowed to eat stuff like that).

You might have to ask aho. But thats cool groink, you'll like to try anything. I know a lot of my non-asian friends here in the mainland would not EVEN attempt to eat it just because it has the name "octopus balls" _________________

There's a funny story behind what you said I must tell...
It's a story about sashimi, or raw fish in general. About 10 years ago, I couldn't even THINK about eating raw fish. It grossed me out! Today, I can't get enough of the stuff!!!!!!
Here's what happened... About 10 years ago, I used to work at a local computer store, where they sold computer parts like motherboards, memory modules, hard disk drives, etc. At the time, all I ate were white man food (burgers, steak, chicken, etc.) I like asian snacks like cuttle fish (my mom made me eat it outside) and such, so I can handle the fishy taste and smell. But when it came to eating sashimi, or even sushi, I wouldn't touch the stuff!!!!!
Then came along Joe. He was a salesperson at the computer store. Full-on Filipino, and veeeeeeeeery smooth, especially with the ladies. He previously worked as a car salesman, so you get the idea... Joe's the first guy I've ever seen that used the same car salesman tactics to sell computers.
Joe was also a slimeball. He'd be cutting deals under the table, bartering goods from the computer store for things like fireworks, tickets to a football game or concert, even women!!!!! Imagine... Yeah, she looks to be worth about 64MB of RAM!!!!!
Anyway... One night, after closing the store, Joe organized an outdoor New Year's Eve party, right out in the middle of the parking lot!!! He had everything... beer, steaks, chicken, girls... There were about 30 people at the party, so there was a lot of energy floating around. Even Kareem Abdul Jabaar stopped by at one point (Joe knows Kareem personally). Joe invited me to the party seeing I had the inside scoop on his "other" activities muuuuahaha!
All of a sudden, he busts out a cooler, filled with huge chunks of Ahi (big eye or yellowfin tuna). Ahi's one of several fishes used for sashimi. And they were big slabs of the stuff!!!!! I don't know about other parts of the world, but the price of Ahi in Hawaii during New Year's is something like a gazillion dollars a pound. And, you can't even find the stuff fresh during this time. So you can only imagine how much $$$$$ that cooler of Ahi was worth, I'd say at least $2000.
Anyway, Joe offered me some sashimi. I said hell no!!!!! That's gross!!!!! But, I looked pretty much like a wimp in front of the other people, especially the ladies. Even Kareem was chowing down on the stuff!!! So I decided why not???? I'll give it a try!!!! The first piece I tried, I drowned it in shoyu and wasabi, then slammed it in my mouth. After about 10 pieces, I started eating the stuff without the wasabi. I was TOTALLY addicted to the stuff!!!!!! Joe even had to tell me to slow down on the stuff.
After awhile, I started wondering... Where did he get the stuff? And, how can someone who's living is selling computers afford that much Ahi??? How much did he pay for the fish???? Joe smiled at me and said, "I bought it for 40 gigabytes."
Heh. Great story. The old "don't wanna look like a wimp in front of the ladies" monster rears its ugly head again... Well, it was only sashimi, so no harm done...
Joe sounds like your prototypical used-car salesman type: always a catch, always fine print involved... But hey, he introduced you to the world of sashimi...
