But pizza lives in Brooklyn.

LOL!!! rofl

The pizza I was talking about that I said I'd had in the suburbs was I believe in Brooklyn. My college roommate was from Pelham, he took me through Brooklyn to a few places.

Haven't had good Sicilian-style out here in CA.

You can call it whatever you want, but the stuff they make in Chicago, and call pizza... ain't.

Pizza was actually created in N.Y. By Italian immigrants, yes. But pizza didn't come over from Italy.

Pizza was already established as the food of the gods long before anyone got lost in the middle of the country and started calling the place they got tired and stopped in, Chicago.

Calling Chicago Style deep dish pizza, Pizza, is sort of like calling Taco Bell fine Mexican food.

Oooh. Any Chicagoans here for a rebuttal???

Heh, it's like that hot dog program I saw on PBS: a good-natured war between Chicago and NYC on who has the best hot dog and where it originated from... hehe

We had a guest from GA staying out here. She actually thought Taco Bell was authentic Mexican Food. Most people in Florida think they are eating Mexican food and really they are eating Cuban food.

LOL!! I've never heard Brooklyn called a suburb before.

BMW,

Hot dogs! Now there's a food where you can find different kinds of greatness all over the country.

Jeez, even SoCal has a couple of places where you can get a great dog.

I've had Pink's, and they ain't bad.

I grew up on Nathan's so that's pretty much the standard for me.

But boy... if you like kraut on your dog... you have to go to the mid west.

I thought sauerkraut was just sauerkraut. You know, the stuff you get out of the cans at the supermarket... until I visited places like Minn. and Wis.

Man, all the different flavors, colors, texturers and varieties. Those people are serious about their kraut.

Not for me. Relish, mustard, and chopped onion is all I need.

Okay okay, I think the proper term is borough of NYC. Smile

PC

The proper term is, indeed, borough.

People from N.Y.C. always refer to it as the Borough of Brooklyn.

(But truth to tell, people from Brooklyn still think of the place as a city unto itself. Noone there ever really accepted the Annexation. --- Then again, I'm old now and it's been a while, so things might have changed.)

Well yeah. Sorta goes without saying.

If you don't grill it, you don't get that snap when you bite in.

Yup. But you'd be surprised how many people boil their dogs. *smacks older brothers upside the head*

I think the practise of boiling dogs comes from the street carts.

They always boil their dogs.

Best way I've found to cook a hot dog, if you don't have a grill handy...

Boil it for 5 minutes (or nuke it) and then throw it in the oven at 425 until it starts to blister.

It ain't right... but it works.

I just throw 'em directly onto a hot frying pan and toss 'em around 'til they blister... Gulden's spicy brown mustard and some Heinz sweet relish... Oh, and the chopped onion. Yum.
