I really like "In the mood for love" (Fa yeung nin wa (2000)) by Wong Kar Wai, starring Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung. Maggie Cheung looks spectacular in a cheongsam.

Yep too bad ne HK movie which is so productive before because of da budget have to compromise alot against Da big spender Hollywood producer...But for da quality because they have to be careful makin it da quality of da C-movie increase, they have to be really picky about material dat really can sell..If not not sponsor will be in their side for their next project Big Grin

to me, HK movies have been in the doldrums for the past few years. n the quality gets worse not better

these "romantic movies" are now being churned out in a formulaic manner n simply its usu a romantic comedy with dam stupid jokes inside them.

i used to be a fan of hk movies but simply i cant find any reason now

btw
turn left turn right was ok, great ost but gigi leung made her character look like a complete moron n well the lines are dam cheesy. N i predicted the dam earthquake ending 5mins ahead of it. hows tat for formulaic. the picture bk was great but honestly the adaptation to me is a failure

fly me to polaris - i hate ritchie ren. enuff said. cecilia cheung is not abd but she churns out movies faster than she wears a new outfit

to me infernal affairs 1 n 2, sixth floor rear room flat were the 3 best hk movies since 2000.
hmmm the last romantic c-movie i liked was xia ri muo muo cha (summer bubble tea?) with ritchie ren n sammi cheng. it has ritchie ren n i still liked it so tats my onli recommendation for anyone who wans to watch a gd romantic c-movie

Another one of me fav Romantic C-Movies are :

Chinese Odyssey 2002

Synopsis:
In Ming Dynasty China, two pairs of siblings are destined for each other. But fate throws countless obstacles in the path of their happiness. One pair is high-born: the young Emperor and his sister Wushuang, both confined to the Imperial Palace and very much under the thumb of their mother, the Empress Dowager. The other pair is decidedly lowborn: the wanderer Li Yilong (known as King Bully for the way he terrorized the town of Meilong in his youth) and his sister Phoenix, who still runs a restaurant in Meilong. When both the young Emperor and his sister Wushuang contrive to leave the Palace and head south, they meet the loves of their lives in Meilong. But Wushuang has disguised herself as a man, and the Emperor is incognito. Numerous confusions, complications and misunderstandings ensue: genders and gender-roles are reversed, class differences prove hard to negotiate and identities and egos block the promptings of desire. It takes the interventions of a goddess to get everyone back on the right road. But it may be already too late to heal the wounds of disappointment and separation.

The Lion roars
Synopsis: Period comedy about a Soong Dynasty poet who meets a beautiful but fierce lady at a poems-reading gathering. They get married, and then he discovers that his wife is a roaring lion who limits him on all his activities and expenses...

Would you consider Fallen Angels (1995) by Wong Kar Wai (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112913/) to be a romantic movie? In a quirky way, it is about love. Great acting by Kaneshiro Takeshi, and I also liked Karen Mok, Michelle Reis and Charlie Yeung. It is also very very funny in some parts.

I liked it even more than Chungking Express, which was really good too.

Hmm, I don't really know any newer movies.

Ne Vibius...Good taste I can say about Chungking express & Fallen Angel Wink ...Romantic is a so different ways Mr Green

Chungking express

Synopsis:Set in the bustle of the Tsim Sha Tsui district of Hong Kong, the film is divided into two distinct stories both centred around the titular Chungking Express fast food counter. The setting isn't the only parallel which can be drawn, as both start with cops struggling to deal with broken hearts and follow their attempts to overcome their despair. In this way the two stories are intimately linked, but in other respects remain very different.
Cop 223 (Takeshi Kaneshiro) always meets his girlfriend May outside the Chungking Express at the end of his shift, but when she doesn't show and starts avoiding him it is obvious he has been dumped. To try and get over her, he sets about buying 30 cans of pineapple with the same use-by-date, declaring that by the time he has found enough his love for her will have died. Meanwhile, a hardened drug smuggler (Brigitte Lin) gets in trouble when the Indian couriers she has employed go missing with her merchandise. The two meet in a bar and Cop 223 decides she is the new love of his life, but we all know it'll never that easy.
Cop 663 (Tony Leung, further consolidating his challenge for coolest man on the planet) buys Chef's Salad every night at the Chungking Express for his air stewardess girlfriend (Valerie Chow). However, she decides to move on and the only way he can deal with it is to project his despair onto the inanimate contents of his flat. In his melancholy he fails to notice that Faye, the new kooky girl working at the counter (the wonderfully elfin Faye Wong) has a crush on him. She decides it's time for him to come to his senses and decides on an unusual solution.
Quentin Tarantino says he cried when he watched Chungking Express for the first time, and allowed Miramax to released it with a recommendation from him to create interest in the States.

Fallen Angel

Set in the neon- washed underworld of present day Hong Kong, Fallen Angels intertwines two exhilarating tales of love and isolation. First, there's the unconsummated love affair between a contract killer (Leon Lai Ming) and the ravishing female agent (Michele Reis) who books his assignments and cleans up after his jobs. When the killer decides that he must move on, he leaves her with only a coin for the jukebox and instructions to play song number 1818 ? "Wang Ji Ta" ("Forget Him").

Ex-convict Ho (Takeshi Kaneshiro) stopped speaking at the age of five after eating a date expired can of pineapple. He lives with his father, who runs a guesthouse where the agent is in semi-permanent residence. Ho makes a living by re-opening shops that have closed for the night and intimidating customers into buying goods and services from him. After an awkward romance with a girl named Cherry, Ho Finds himself all the more aloneÉ Wong Kar-Wai brings these parallel storylines together in a blitz of ultra-hip style and classical cinematic sensibilities. A poet of modern alienation, Kar-Wai's universe is populated with characters both dark and comic, magical and existential; Fallen Angels is both a vie at revolutionary cinema and an homage to a love for movies.
