Well I gues we have different taste but I would be hard press to name 10 song this year that were really good.

This is the top 10 of last year on the oricon chart:
1. SMAP - Sekai ni hitotsudake no hana
2. Masaharu Fukuyama - Niji
3. Hikaru Utada - COLORS
4. Naotaro Moriyama - Sakura
5. RUI - Tsuki no shizuku
6. I WiSH - Asu e no tobira
7. Southern All Stars - Namida no Umi de Idakaretai ~SEA OF LOVE~
8. Ayumi Hamasaki - &
9. Mr.Children - HERO
10. ROAD OF MAJOR - Taisetsuna mono

IMHO the top 5 last year is much better than the top 5 this year. Also, just looking at H!P the songs last year were better too and of course my favourite group MM last year Shabondama is much better than anything they released this year. Lets not go into Ayaya cause thats really depressing.

The list is now confirmed http://www3.nhk.or.jp/kouhaku/

ORANGE RANGE made it to their first Kouhaku as expected so did Hirahara Ayaka for the female side. Thank goodness SMAP didn't make it because they didn't release a thing this year to deserve it (I surpose they could always make a surprise guest apperance).

On a H!P note, W made it Yeah

LOL!!!! His (or it's) name is YUPPIE, a character Sakai Noriko drew herself in the late 1980's and early 1990's. She then came out with a chain of stores called "NORI-P HOUSE" (much like the Hello! Project store), where she sold things like the plush YUPPIE, along with bumper stickers, T-shirts, videos, and other stuff she knew groink would be buying up. Shake Head

Looks like the only Johnny's group this year is Tokio.

Hirai Ken is on the list. Isn't that his name after Hikawa Kiyoshi?

Although SMAP didn't release a single this year, their last single in March of 2003 still sold very well in 2004 and in fact is one of the top 25 singles of 2004 at the moment Big Grin

Hopefully I translated the names right... The number next to the name indicates the number of years they've appeared in the NHK event (as of the 2004 event -- i.e. "1" means this coming event will be his/her/their debut).

Code:

Aiko 3                  Itsuki Hiroshi 34
Ishikawa Sayuri 27      w-inds 3

Kamito Irodori 1        ORANGE RANGE 1
Every Little Thing 8    Gackt 4
Otsuka Ai 1             Kawaguchi Kyougo 1

Kuraki Mai 2            Kitajima Saburo 41
Kobayashi Sachiko 26    Chemistry 4
Sakamoto Fuyumi   16    Gospellers 4
Shimakura Chiyoko 35    Sada Masashi 16
Shimatani Hitomi 3      John Ken Nuzzo 2
Tendo Yoshimi 9         TOKIO 11
DREAMS COME TRUE 9      Toba Ichiro 17
Nakashima Mika 3        nobodyknows+ 1
Nakamura Mitsuko 11     Hikawa Kiyoshi 5

Ah shoots. I guess I got ahead of myself when I thought that Amuro would appear. Shucks.

Anyways, at least Every Little Thing, Kuraki Mai, Dreams Come True, Exile, Chemistry, Gospellers, Hirai Ken, Hikawa Kiyoshi, and (of course, "the man") Kitajima Saburo are showing up! w00t! w00t! w00t!

The lineup is pretty weak... but, it looks like it'll be enjoyable. I'll dvr it for sure, but I'll probably go out and catch the Pride Show at Saitama instead of staying home to watch this...
