Hey hitobaka

The years are different. I was just saying that Erika was the main female lead in TNU, so why was she given a supporting nom? Shake Head

In Japan's drama awards , there is usually only one lead character for each drama. There are some exceptional cases like pure romance-couple drama like suppli , love generation or novel based drama nobuta no produce where there are 2 lead characters.

For taiyo no uta, the lead character is Yamada Takayuki, probably because either Yamada is overwhelming more popular and experienced than Erika (the main reason densa otoko didn't get the lead nomine last year) or the novel the drama is based on define Yamada as lead character (for the case of nobuta). I only watch the first few episodes of TNU and its seem both of them have pretty heavy roles, making it hard to consider who should get the leading roles nominations. I seriously doubt Yamada is more popular that Erika and the more likely reason is that the novel is probably more centered on Yamada's character that gave him the slight edge.

A third possible reason, kinda of a conspiracy, is that the artistes management company (Yamada and Erika seems to be in the same company) probably think Erika have a better chance in winning the supporting role award where there is lesser competition. Yamada did pretty well for the lead role award and almost get into the top 3. There is only one trophy for the winner and their company probably try working up a formula so that they can get the maximum results. Their company may also see Yamada as more senior than Erika and hence should be ahead of Erika in nomination.

"Taiyou no Uta" was adapted from a Hong Kong movie which won quite a few awards when it was released a few years back. In the original story the leading actor and actress had equal exposure, although the story was kind of told from the perspective of the actor.

there's the full list at d-addicts thread -> http://d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_37596.htm

best drama, in order of ranking
#1 Iryu Team Medical Dragon
#2 Kurosagi
#3 Bengoshi no Kuzu
#4 Busu no Hitomi ni Koishiteru
#5 Machiben

i watched all the top 5 dramas in their entirety and i kinda agree with the awards.. though i think bengoshi no kuzu should be #2, instead of kurosagi
imo, iryu really deserves the top spot and the best music award.. an incredible drama with the best OST ever

I've shared this drama with few of my friends and those who didn't like it only watched the first episode and declare it as boring and serious medical drama with no pretty actors/actresses

try giving it a chance and watch at least 2 episodes before rating it as a boring drama, you may find a gem in this drama

on a sidenote, in the recent separate oricon ranking award, iryu won the most satisfying drama award for the spring 2006 season with a large margin
http://www.tokyograph.com/news/id-35
http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/confidence/27309/

i think 83.2% satisfaction rating for iryu is insanely high(though really well deserved)... the only drama i knew that came close to it was 1 Litre of Tears(83.3% satisfaction rating, which is still the highest rating overall.. by 0.1%)

edit: btw, im part of the iryu english subbing team.. head here if you need english subs -> http://d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_36145.htm
the AVIs can be downloaded off d-addicts tracker

Why the hell is Kurosagi up at #2???

Am i the only one who thinks that it's.... dull?

People will probably puke watching the whole series if the guy that played as Kurosagi was the ZEEBRA guy that starred 15 sai no blues and not YamaPi anyway.... hehe

I suppose having the supporting nod for Erika then makes a bit of sense. Thanks.

LOL! It looked like Yamapi was playing dress up. His "disguises" were sooo not believable.

you hit the nail on the head...that's exactly the sentiment that i felt as well...they should have called the drama "COSPLAYSAGI."

the characters were so bleh i felt little if any emotional response elicited by their plights because it was so fake and lame.

HEHEHE! "COSPLAYSAGI!" For real. The costumes were way too amusing to be taken seriously. He's supposed to be a crafty swindler for goodness sake, you'd figure the costumes would be at least believable.

There was little to no credible acting in this drama. I usually like Horikita Maki but she came off as annoying in this drama. And, her character didn't really have a purpose. It seemed like the writers just gave up on her character, no real development at all. I really can't believe she won an award for this role. For shame!

again, i'm in total agreement. her acting AND her character were both lame. "DASSAI" as the Japanese would say.

yeah i think her awkward, irredeemable performance in cosplaysagi was a farce. she was a LAW STUDENT? yeah right i didn't believe that for a nanosecond....her portrayal as a law student was about as tore up as those pickles the old man spit out at the end of every episode.

she did much better in NwP.
