Well, if you can use the mencoder tool on Linux, then this is pretty easy using the "expand" video filter. I believe the program "transcode" also has this ability but I haven't used it yet.

These are command line tools, and somewhat of a pain in the butt to use, but once you get used to them, they can do a lot.

P.S. You probably already found a solution by now, but google found this recipe for virtualdub:

do what i do.... if u want a VCD use NERO and the files can be .avi (none of this converting to mpg..and waste time crap)... and click on make VCD option.. but when u make VCDs the quality turns to crap.. so i would say if a CDburner is all u have then go for it... but if u have a DVD burner just make a readble DVD... | Precious Bamboo wrote: | | If there's a topic similar to this already, just let me know and I'll delete this one.
I'm wondering if I'm able to copy dramas or variety shows I've downloaded from japan-tv and Public MM onto VCD or DVD and how do I do that? I like watching dramas on my TV in my room better than in the cold nasty computer room so I just wanted to know if anyone knows how to do this. Thank you
