That's very suspicious. What happens if you block it with your firewall? |
I've now converted a complete series from avi to mpeg as well as a bunch of FLV to mpeg and various other conversion tests.... it does everything in relatively no time. Based on your suspicions, I just ran at test conversion afer disconnecting my DSL. Absolutely no difference. Nor in the month I've been using it have I noticed any new spam nor has my watchdog, winpatrol given any unexpected barks. So I can only surmise that they may be monitoring for purpose of determining the usage of their product. I can tell you that I am immensely pleased with the convenience of the literally thousands of possible conversions in one single product. and free? If I detect any malicious activity I'll either block it in my firewall or disconnect my DSL when I use it.... No way will I voluntarily give this up and return to the time crunching softwares I struggled with before this.
There is also a forum and there is no hint of malicious suspicion there:

thanks in advance.. |
I had used an FLV converter before but it did not work most of the time.
Then as I said above, 'Super' has no problem converting FLV to anything else you desire.

Among the many things I like about Super is that you don't even have to know what your input is. You never specify it. Super determines the input. All you do is specify what you want the output to be among the umpteen possibilities... It's just plain great.... A masterpiece of coding.

Personal preference always has a lot to do with it. In software I'm very partial to those that are mutlifunctional... but in hardware I'm exactly the opposite. Cell phones should be for calling and digital cameras should be for taking pictures for example. I suppose a cell phone picture to capture a robber is very helpful whereas a landscape for hanging in your living room would be a joke from a cell phone.

Furthermore he says that there's no new technology, it's just a GUI around a bunch of free tools. He did say that it's cool and saves months of work. |
Hmmm so what's the new technology in winavi for instance or virtually any of the converters available?
So far avis that took winavi from 3 to 4 hours to convert to mpeg, I was able to do in 30 to 40 minutes with the addition of total control of the output quality.
I think it's amazing that a group of programmers took the trouble to take all that existing technology and put it in one simple to use tool instead of having to download a converter for every media that some nut decides to befuddle you with.

That's odd, because all of YouTube's video are in FLV format.
