i don't think so...i think the scene implies they followed their dreams and kept their promise of seeing each other again in the future in the way depicted in their earlier conversations with one another....

You Guys crack me up...
The ending ...
I think the it was a draw -- even if the bat cracked (didn't they make comment like the wood bat was just for the pros) if he used a alum bat it would have been out of the park.
I would like to have seen a little resolution more w/ haruku and hiro. Poor girls she is always waiting for him. There was a LOOOOOOT of Hikai and hiro.
Question the article headline for Hideo said he won the FA -- what does FA mean in Japanese baseball? [/code]

may be hiro think tachinaba is the suitable person for hikari...
although i think that hikari is more suitable for hiro...
but haruka also not bad...she i think has the same personality like hiro..

I originally was a little tepid about the ending. The more I think about it this dorama might be miss represented a bit in the synopsis. Maybe Hikari should get the second billing. The story seems to be more about how they deal with their changing childhood friendship as they each grow up and away from each other
more specifically ...
I think that he didn't persue hikari 1) because in the end they are childhood friends -- and yes he loves her more then anyone but I think he realized that even thought it is a stronglove that it wasn't that kind of love. 2) He know that hikari has somewhat grown up with out him by falling in love with someone else.
I wish there was like 1 more episode so that I could see a bit more of Haruka and Hiro (cause I like her). I think in the end he is leaving the comfort of loving his childhood friend (who he has always loved) and moving on to a new thing with Haruka. Noda seems to realize it before hiro as since tells him that he has someone to meet. Hiro seems like someone who doesn't really know what to do in situations that don't involve baseball or Hikari.

ah. good now it makes sense to me. thanks! Yup, i feel that the portrayal of the love between hiro and haruka just seems, insufficient.

No not really. Cause you see, Hiro never loved Hikari as "a man loves a woman". He didn't pursue her when he won because he realized he didn't have that sort of desire for her. Instead, it was more of the love you have for a really dear friend, that he had mistaken into thinking was the real thing.
According to the last scene and what was said by Noda, and then by Haruka, Haruka is in fact Hiro's first love in the sense that there is a man's desire.
I have no idea if the above makes sense, but there you have it.
And yay! I LOVE this drama! This is where I fell in love with Yamada Takayuki and became a huge fan of Ishihara Satomi.

yeah the love was more "agape" instead of "eros." -- to borrow from literary concepts.
