I had asked a question about what FA meant (it was translated in the newspaper a passenger was reading on the plane in the last scene. Apparent Hideo was chasing hiro as a FA.) I found the answer on the website below ... Here it is
FA means Free Agency. In Japan, for someone playing in the Japanese Baseball League to go to the Majors, he has to spend nine seasons in Japan. That's why most of the Japanese players coming to the Majors are in their thirties.
There is a less-used avenue for Japanese players to come to the Majors, called POSTing. It's like putting self into an auction by the Major team. Hiro made to the Majors thru POSTing, but Hideo has to spend a few more years with his team before he could become a FA and try for the Majors.
Incidentally, but not coincidentally, Hideo's team, the Yokohama Baystars, is owned by TBS which aired H2. The two guys at Hideo's signing were really the Manager Ushijima of Baystars and one of the Staff, who made cameo appearance.

It also has info about the production and the writer in their threads (although it isn't active).
Also the following has a pretty detailed summary

BTW I just saw Touch - It is an entirely different story but it feels very similar must be all that baseball.

It's probably because Touch and H2 have the same author.
EDIT: If you noticed also, the dog in Touch looks like the dog in H2, plus they both have the same name "Panchi"

yea definitely. Although it IS about baseball, I think the sport falls into the background to the actual plot of confused love and growing into maturity. A well written story! I'm glad you liked it. It's one of my fav. _________________
