On the other end of the spectrum, yoko not that popular of name, because it sounds so old. Other old sounding names, Kamado (oven), ushi (cow), etc.

Don't laugh, these are real JPN names from back in the day.

Why is there no Kanji in "Sayuri" ?
Is there a reason ?

Here's something I've noticed: a number of my Japanese friends are named Kathy/Cathy and/or have sisters, daughters, etc. named Kathy/Cathy... Is this just coincidence or is there something more to it? :headscratch:

True, but Sayuri has a special kanji combination that is not read as you ordinarily would: ¬•S‡ (ko, hyaku, ai) but combined, it's read Sayuri. Don't ask me why.
