It takes more than one lesson and more than one day.
Really, the best way to learn is to spend sets of two days in a row, and also invest in a pair of good kneepads and hip pads and wrist guards, because you'll be falling so much.
Most folks can't handle more than 2 days in a row before being exhausted and beat. But you learn a lot faster by doing two consecutive days.
Do like 2 days on... the 2-3 weeks off... then 2 days on... then 2-3 weeks off... and 2 days on. By the end of the 6th day, you'll be cruising.

That's quite true... Although i learned snowboarding in three days. And the other of my friends learned it in one and half. I can't understand it... the first time she got to a elevator she went straight to top... it took me five times to get there with lots of luck and i was said i learned quickly
I've also noticed that snowboarding skills don't fade away... there was a two year break between my first and second skiing trip and my skills had not gotten any worse... though i didn't know too much then

Yes Finland IS in northern europe... let me know then and i'll try my best to keep my word!
By the way, how many of you ski with ski and not with snowboard (does that sentence make any sence... ski with ski... )

thanks, Eke! you're the man!
i'll tell you this, at japan, i was able to snowboard for two days straight, so i was pretty happy. on the 2nd day, i was getting pretty decent, but still could've used the practice.
i want to ski, but usually, my precious vacation is so short that i want to use it for something that i really want to try - like snowboard. i think next time, i'll try skiing for a little while.

Back from another weekend of snowboarding. Have squeezed in eight days of snowboarding so far this season.
Went to NorthStar on Saturday:

Went to SugarBowl on Sunday:

Stayed up in a cabin in Kings Beach with some friends. One of the girls cooked up steaks for us on Saturday night, which were amazing.

You ain't kiddin' jholic. Raining a-plenty this weekend. What I absotively do NOT get when it rains so hard on Oahu, in particular, is that WHY is it that the Aina Hinan, uber high-priced neighborhoods get hit with the overflow of raw sewage alla' time?
Give me my subterranean wired, mid'-high class 'hood anyday .
Hey, jholic, is it nice to watch the rain w/a pretty girl sitting next to you?

hey, getting back to the topic: EKE, are you still there? dude, i was watching the x-games on espn last night, and there was a snowboarding competition. some guy from FINLAND won the gold. dude was catching some serious air! i was thinking to myself, "hey, is that EKE?" i believe the guy's name was 'annti aniti' or something.

They call them the Flying Fin's for a reason. Those dudes can seriously board and ski. Especially ski jump.

Heh... Janne Ahonen is really making a name for us finnish and espacially for himself. I just hope hi's not going to end up like Matti Nykänen, you might know him too... He won the ski jumping world cup. Now his having serious alcohol problems, beated his wife, they got diworced, got back together, some stabbing incident... Quite a mess.

wow, i'm surprised to hear that. it's really sad that some people have to act that way.
in finland, what are the snowboarding months? i know that different parts of the world have their winter seasons at different times. just wondering what's finland's. |
I guess it's almost all the year...
In France, winter season is from December to March. BUt Finland is really colder...

That's not quite true... It's impossible to ski in the middle of summer... You can skii here in Finland propably in november but it's best in january, february and march.

Maybe it's because the Alpes are higher than Finland's mountains.

I found out earlier today that the skiing trip to Ruka that i had planned with my friends got cancelled! That means i don't get to ski at all this year |
Go to Japan. You still have about 1/2 a month to ski. If not maybe even more. _________________

Well... I really don't like to ski alone. Then again we would have a skiing trip from our school but it's too expensive and it's a little too big group for me. (maybe i'm too picky )
