Not to worry, (I can still enjoy his photos ) I thought that you were speaking of a new dorama (to which I wouldn't have access to). But since you've said that, I'll definately have to look into it. I hate to ask my husband to DL it because he's the one that usually does all the computer stuff. And of course - (he'll know by the title that it's a Japanese show) I'll have to explain that it's a really good show so he won't be suspicious. But seriously, to many folk here at Jdorama.com that are not familiar with nihonjin from their daily lives... they have a skewed perception of how attractive nihonjin are because their views are based on watching doramas and movies, and not from first hand knowledge.

In Japan, physical beauty plays are significantly larger role in becoming a successful artist in the entertainment industry, far more so than in the USA. So by watching doramas and movies, people may get the mistaken impression that the average Japanese person is better looking than they are in reality in Japan.

Also, because they are on a screen and not contrasted against Americans, you don't realize the height difference. Nihonjin are about 2 inhces shorter than their American counterparts. I've seen recent statistics that put the average American male at just over 5'8". In Japan, I believe it's about 5'6", which to most American women, they would consider short. On the flip side, American men are not as concerned about the height of nihonjin women.

Hmm, so I would be taller than an average Japanese, but would be looking up to an average American.

I understand what you're saying, but I really haven't seen any unattractive people, let alone Japanese men. But I'm a "very" average looking person too, so perhaps that may be why I'm so open minded.

I only believe that there are average looking (me, Alanis Morrissette, Whoppi Goldberg...) and very gorgeous (Miki Nakatani, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ashanti).

And remember, I'm from SF Bay Area (Fairfield aka Squarefield), where I grew up w/ all cultures. (That's why I'm suffering in MD.) So I'm used to seeing, talking, hanging with all kinds of people and believe that I have so many cool friends. Well, that and the fact that I'm cool!!

Hahaha, I can't deny that I don't like the girlie Japanese men sometimes. I think that stems from my liking of metrosexuals.
