Hakone National Park:

Steam from the natural hot springs. The smell was disgusting. I couldn't go up all the way. bleh

Eggs placed and steamed in the hot springs come out black. They are delicious!

I didn't get to see Fuji-san this time during the cruise because it was too misty, but I saw it during the bullet train ride to Osaka:

Thanks, Wynter. Yeah because I started my trip in Eastern Japan (Kanto area) with Tokyo and then headed from there to Hakone on to Western Japan (Kansai), I was able to see sakura in full bloom throughout my time there, because as I understand it the sakura blossom first in Kanto and then progressively later as you travel down the spine of Japan from East to West.

I saw much of this area on my first trip to Japan back in '04, not this time around. The forests and lakes are quite beautiful.

Nice. Love the shinkansen...so clean, efficient, and SAFE. I remember leaving my Macbook Air at my seat to use the bathroom knowing nobody would mess with my stuff. Wouldn't think of that here!

Great shot of Fuji Yama.
