Wow! Visiting there & living there are two totally different things IMO! How did you like living there?
I loved it there. I visited places in Kansai area, but I'm a Kantou girl Kantou felt more like "home" to me for some reason. The Kansai area is kinda "different". It's hard to explain. It was fun and all, but usually between Kantou and Kansai, it seems as if you usually like one extremely more than the other and feel more comfortable. It's hard to explain it, but it's different there. Nice people in both areas, I must say though I heard some excellent English in Kansai region, I didn't expect it.
I didn't get to play in Osaka, was only in Kansai for 3-4 days I think. It was during Gion Matsuri, so it was so hectic for the first 2 days. I saw Kyoto, Kameoka (small boonie town, if anyone knows of Alex Kerr, his house is there.), and Nara. Nara was really cool! I have a friend there

I was there just about 4 years ago and had the time of my life! It was absolutely fantastic, taking in all the sights. Strolled down the Ginza just at sunset and stood on the corner where the Mitsukoshi Department store is watching the big screen TV there. Had a lot of fun just people-watching. Amazing! Shopped at that department sotre, went to Itoya (equivalent of a Hallmark card store), visited the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower, etc. Yeah, I know it was all the tourist trap, but you know what - I couldn't have cared less. All I know is I really had a great time and I want to go back there again. Stayed at the Imperial Hotel, had a great view overlooking Hibiya Park. And talk about service! They take care of your every need. Granted, you pay for it - pretty expensive, but I figured it might be a once in a lifetime trip so I was willing to spend a little more.
Wanna got back!!!

i've never been in tokyo (except via filght transfers @ narita/haneda). I wouldn't mind just one time visit, but I'd still rather spend my time in kansai and/or the ryukyu islands. _________________

Me too!
Although I've never been to Tokyo, ever. I'd like to experience the night life especially in Shibuya. _________________

She doesn't care for Tokyo all that much. Only to visit her cousins which is pretty much it. She's a full on Kansai girl.
All about the Kansai, baby!
I do happen to enjoy Kansai more than Tokyo as well... _________________
