i agree, i spent a day and half in hakone which is pretty country...it was soooo different from tokyo and yokohama...i went there for onsen (japanese hot springs)....it was, to use a cliche, so zen, it was like i was in a different country altogether....also spent the time traveling on (by boat) and around the lake asami region near hakone. it was very relaxing and special, with all the greenery and forested areas it was dope. maybe i'll post some of pictures of that portion of my trip later.
peace.
yeah, last time i went to Hakone, about 1hr or so from Shinjuku, it is so different than the citylife of Tokyo, nice getaway from the hustle of the crowded city. I have some pix of Hakone as well, too bad it was cloudy, i was basically right in front of Mt. Fuji at Lake Ashi area.
as far as my trip, this is the weekend i gotta get ready (prep the house, pack, etc) to go. my flight is monday wed morning.
leaving on Monday? wednesday morning?, well if your flight is Mon, you will get to japan Tuesday mid day, wednesday should be your full first day in Japan, enjoy your trip, i doubt i will see you in Tokyo. I am staying the first night in Narita, then off thru tokyo onto Kyoto, then back the rest of the trip to Tokyo.
I am mostly packed and ready to go to depart tomorrow to Narita, I am so looking forward to Japan, it's been two years since I first went, now I am going again, this time I have a better idea what areas to visit and going to Kyoto!! will take a lot of pix/video.

sorry, i meant wed morning (how monday got there i have no idea ) me, i'm going nowhere near narita. I'll land in the new chubu airport in nagoya, hang out at the expo, do the castle thing for a week, then we're going to kyoto fro the remaining 10 days after that. _________________

snap...i saw an nhk broadcast about the 2005 expo...that event looked cool as f*ck~i'm sure you'll have many interesting things to see and hear! cool beans
yeah, staying overnight in narita, just figured i would be so out of it, and arriving around 6pm, so thought it would be best to chill and relax at the hotel, and start out early next morning to Kyoto.

cool, spending that much time in the Kyoto area, i could only wish i had more than just the 1 day there, but better than nothing, just hope that i can cram a bunch of pix and sightseeing in a days visit. Next trip, i will plan on staying longer in kyoto. Nagoya, expo, cool. I thought of it, but it would be too much and too crowded for me to go. thought i might just go see kyoto for awhile and then Tokyo the rest of the trip.
Have fun on your trip.
