but... but.. it's on top of my todo list.
We got on the last train once...but it was too late in the sense that it was too far from our stop so we had to get off at a stop short of ours.....had to take a cab the rest of the way....fortunately it wasn't too far...yes we were drunk.

This is what you do when you're drunk and the last two ppl in the train car...take pictures of your friend sleeping with the Grand Hyatt Roppongi Hills umbrella.
(Face not shown to protect the innocent)
This picture is at the Ebisu Station on the Hibiya Line...we got booted off the train at Hiro-o....one stop short of Roppongi, our actual stop.

Apparently, they only last between a week or two. Depending of the region, it can starts in early March until May. I hope I can see sakura too.
Getting lost with a few friends can be fun.
Traveling and getting lost can be half the fun sometimes....especially in a big city like Tokyo. You're going to have a blast, man...you'll never wanna come back.

Probably. I don't mind, as long as I don't get lost alone.
I wish I had more time to study tho. I'm sure it's more fun when you know the language.
By the way, I found a nice hotel run by ANA near Narita. If you're flying on ANA, you can check-in for your flight in the hotel lobby. All you have to take with you to the terminal is your passport and carry-on luggage. Sounds pretty cool. http://www.anahotel-narita.com _________________

One major CAVEAT about Narita and nearby hotels....Narita Int'l Airport is FUGGIN' FAAAAAAR from Central Tokyo....if you stay there you will be screwed for your entire trip....the train ride to Tokyo and back is lengthy and if you took a cab you'd have to sell yourself as a male prostitute to afford it.

Can I be Satomi Ishihara's escort?
I'm only staying near narita the day before leaving. In fact, I'm going straight to Yokohama upon landing, fingerprinted and photographed. I just have to remember not to fall asleep in the bus and miss my stop. Found a cheap hotel with late check-in. Single bed, but after being awake for 30 hours, I bet I could probably sleep at station while spooning an oyaji. _________________

Cool...you got it all straight then....I just wouldn't want you to go all the way there and then be in the boonies making it difficult to travel to and fro from your hotel.
But since you're staying in Yokohama, doesn't sound like an issue....you'll be taking the train to hit Tokyo but then you have somebody to kick it with so it's all gravy.
EDIT: Well I know you have a long flight but hopefully you'll be able to sleep on the plane...from the West Coast the ride is about 12 hours but once you land you'll probably be excited to be there.....we landed Friday night and said, "f*ck it" and stayed up all night in order to adjust our sleeping schedules to local JPN time. Man, I'm excited for you.

Yes. Like a bed and breakfast, but more like bed and lime.
Thank you for your concern.
The plane ride last 14 hours, but I have to land in Toronto. I have 4 hours to kill there. You'd think that between the 1st and 2nd most populous cities in the country, they would have more frequent flight.
I'll probably spend more time in airports in Canada, then in the air to Japan. I'm flying in those new 777 planes, so it should be interesting too. The hotel for my first night is 5 or 10 minutes walk from YCAT (Yokohama City Air Terminal). I'm arriving on a Friday night too. At 6pm. Well see what's in the area. _________________
