Now my biggest problem is to find someone to go with me... I don't have any friends with the same interests sadly enough.
Michael,
That shouldn't stop you from visiting Japan. Sure it kinda sucks not having someone accompany you and sharing experiences with but I'm sure you'll make plenty of friends here. I've traveled abroad to other countries by myself and made many friends. Some I still keep in contact with over 10 years. Plus visiting a foreign country by yourself also adds to the excitement and unknown factor. The most important thing I recommend to anyone visiting Japan is to read up on Japanese etiquette. What may be socially acceptable in your country may not be tolerated here.
Hey guys! Just a quick post before I leave Tokyo.. Tmr I'll be heading down to Hakone then to Kyoto after that.
Witnessed at least 3 newly wedded couples marching down the Meiji Shrine today, and the Rockabillies at Yoyogi Park were enthusiastically dancing even when it started to rain! No time to sort any photos yet though, I'll post em when i'm back.
Didn't get to see any cherry blossoms yet, I'm leaving Ueno Park to the last day when I come back to Tokyo next week. heh.. should be almost fully bloomed by then.
Hope to hear from Wynter and the rest about their travels, my feet are aching now from all the walking..
^^^Glad you're enjoying your trip I went to Ikebukuro last week to check out the Gyoza Stadium in Namja Town (see food thread). Here's some pics near Ikebukuro Station.

Q should be back already?
I will be departing later today, so i had some time to visit the hotel internet cafe before shopping for some souvenirs. THe weather is great today and the view of the cherry blossoms from Ueno park should be nice. I already have seen them in partial bloom earlier in the week and took some photos. That's too bad we weren't able to schedule a meet up while in Tokyo, but nonetheless, i am glad you and Wynter enjoyed your first time in Tokyo and other parts of Japan, there is just so much to see.
I think you will enjoy Hakone, just pick a day where the forecast is like today, sunny, good weather. I have gone before on one of my previous trips and it was rainy and the weather was bad. Kyoto has a lot to offer and you will take a lot of photos. I suggest visiting Kyomizu dera temple, Heian Shrine, Kinkaku-ji(Golden Pavillion), Fushimi Inari Taishia Shrine, Nijo Castle, and the Sagano bamboo grove forest, there is so much to see, enjoy!! I look forward to seeing your photos.
and nice photos you posted above, @Takoyama, i visited Ikebukuro during my visit last year in Tokyo.

I was also wondering if it would be possible to find a "host family" (don't know if its the right name) because hotels are kinda expensive and then I would have no idea where to go or what to do.

Those are very good recommendations to check out. Please post your pics when you have the time. You must have thousands.

Anyway, i'm not sure if Japan is ready for Wyn-chan AND Esther-chan at the same time
Japan is not even close to be ready - I tortured so many poor Japanese people for 8 month, I am sure the day I left Japan in 2007 is now a national holiday .
I also had in mind sensei was gone a good 10 days.

I went shopping yesterday since the weather was so nice. Started in Shinjuku and ended up at Daikanyama. I recommend checking out Daikanyama if you're ever in Tokyo. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from Shibuya station.
Reminds me of that "Keep the Neighborhood Clean" commercial where two sanitation guys show up and dump trash into a homeowner's house, saying "this is all the litter you've discarded over the years and we're returning it to you."
^^^Sad indeed! I remember visiting Paris and I was shocked how filthy the city was. I thought London was cleaner than Paris if you believe that. People need to take pride in their city!
