Hollywood has be a recycle center for a while now. Still I'd recommend the movie any fan of the genre.

But speaking of good movies, The Conspirator. The acting was solid. Also recommended to anyone, not just those that like history.

It is. Like I said, the acting is good and there is a high production value.
I read that it was the first film by the American Film Company, I'm really looking forward to their future films. I'm hoping they'll by as good as the first one. Victory! Peace!

He already made it. It's called Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Masterpiece surely on the American Film Institute's top 100 list.

The original is still the best.

There should be a rule - but obviously there isn't - that if you film a remake, it must be better than the original. Otherwise, why bother???? Bang Head

Sonyfs Subtitle Glasses Mean the Deaf Can Watch Movies in the Theater Too

If someone with a hearing disability wants to watch a film that isn't already subtitled, they have very few options. But now, Sony UK is developing a pair of glasses that display subtitles in time with a given film.

Sony's Tim Potter tells the BBC that the subtitles would appear is though they're on the screen:

"What we do is put the closed captions or the subtitles onto the screen of the glasses so it's super-imposed on the cinema screen, [making it look] like the actual subtitles are on the cinema screen," he said.

After trying them out, Charlie Swinbourne seemed pretty pleased with the effectiveness of the special specs. "The good thing about them is that you're not refocusing. It doesn't feel like the words are really near and the screen is far away. It feels like they're together."

The glasses are expected to start popping up in UK movie theaters next year. But if you're hard of hearing and already wear glasses, it might be time to consider contacts.

Bought special edition DVDs of two of my favorite movies, King Kong (the original, not the disappointing Peter Jackson remake) and The Magnificent Seven because A) they each purportedly had really good extra features on their bonus disc, and B) they were selling at a really cheap price. Wasn't disappointed at all. King Kong especially has loads of excellent extras, and The Magnificent Seven bonus disc, while not as voluminous as King Kong's, has some very good featurettes.

Btw, I'm currently reading a biography of Merian C. Cooper, the man who made King Kong. Talk about leading a full life: kicked out of Annapolis; rode with Black Jack Pershing in pursuit of Pancho Villa; flew bomber planes during WWI; then flew in support of the Polish resistance against the Soviet invasion; escaped from a Russian POW camp stabbing a guard to death in the process; traveled to exotic locales filming adventure-style documentaries; was on the founding board of Pan American Airways; made King Kong; became chief of staff of the Flying Tigers during WWII; co-produced movies with John Ford; and developed Cinerama. Whew!

Watched the last movie of Harry Potter tonight. Tense and gripping, but didn't find it truly/deeply moving.

Also watched The Guard and Beginners this month. Both were good in their different ways, but a lot in each of them went over my head, for different reasons.

Saw J. Edgar today.

Although it was very well made, I didn't find it nearly as interesting as DiCaprio's other biopic, The Aviator.

I did see some similarities in the two films, most notably both Howard Hughes and J. Edgar Hoover were apparently driven (micromanaged, really) by their mothers.

Overall, I'd give the film a 7.5/10.

I thought the last Harry Potter movie was the LAST Harry Potter movie. Or maybe the one before that. Or maybe the next one. It's all so confusing. Nut

It's the last one until another one hits the theaters.
