Awesome! It must have been shown in Japan before it made its house in Ottawa.
But ya know, it looks smaller in your pics. I wonder if it's a replica?
i think it's an original as far as i know because i believe it's a permanent fixture in roppongi hills.....i saw it two years ago....don't know if there are more than one.

Hmm... I'll look it up. The artist is Lousie Bourgeois, I believe. The spider actually represents her mother. _________________

Suspended from the underside of the spider's belly is a sac of 26 pure white marble eggs. The six sculptures have made an international sensation in the art world, having been seen in numerous cultural locations from New York City's spacious Rockefeller Center to the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. Three museums own bronze casts of them.

There are six bronzes in total, and one in steel.
"All my works," says Louise, "have found their inspiration in my childhood." Maman is emblematic of her mother, Josephine, a restorer of tapestries in the family-run restoration business. The spider's high, arched legs descend into points evocative of sewing needles, while her spiralling body suggests sewing spindles as well as the double helix of genetic string that binds one generation to the next. Attached to Maman's abdomen is a cage-like sac containing twenty marble eggs that assert her material role as protector of nurturer.
On Topic: Erm... uh... O! I dunno what to think regarding the synopsis of her new drama. For some reason it doesn't scream success... _________________
