HoriPro talents provide mental support for young disaster victims via YouTube
HoriPro, a popular agency which hosts talents like Ishihara Satomi, Fujiwara Tatsuya and Funakoshi Eiichiro, came up with the idea of creating cute animated clips as a form of entertainment and distraction for the youngest victims of the tsunami and earthquake disasters.
Each clip features one well-known Japanese folktale, as recited by one of HoriProfs many talents. They uploaded the clips onto their official YouTube channel with the hopes that anyone with an Internet connection would show them to their children.
Due to all of the emergency news broadcasts, many children who werenft old enough to grasp the seriousness of the events were (and still are) deprived of all their fun and educational shows. The agency also understood that many adults who were directly affected by the calamity would not have been able to detach themselves from their sorrow in order to entertain children.
As such, HoriProfs president Hori Yoshitaka personally tweeted the URL to their YouTube channel, and expressed hoped that many people would retweet it in order to reach as many children as possible.
Right now, there are 20 different folktales with a runtime up to 10 minutes per clip. For example, children can find hThe Bean, the Straw and the Coalh (narrated by Ishihara Satomi), gTreasure Contesth (narrated by Fujiwara Tatsuya) and gWhy Sea Water is Saltyh (narrated by Yuuka).
President Hori ensured that this wonft be the only form of relief aid provided by his talent agency, gAs of today we have started to put several plans into action in order to help with the reconstruction and mentally support those affected by the disaster.h
The cast of gManzai Gangh talk about the love-life of an entertainer and Sato Ryutafs sense of comedy
Earlier today, the cast of Shinagawa Hiroshifs second movie gManzai Gangh appeared at a preview screening and had a little talk session about the movie and the life of performers in general.
Sato Ryuta, Kamiji Yusuke, Ishihara Satomi, Ayabe Yuji, Nishidai Hiroshi and Akiyama Ryuji all attended the event.
The film is about an unpopular comedian, Kurosawa Tobio (Sato), who meets Onizuka Ryuhei (Kamiji), an individual who beats people up. Their fates intertwine in a jail cell, and they form a comedian duo together with their goal of becoming top comedians.
Ishihara is the only woman in the cast, but she enjoyed all the attention. She commented, gIt was my first time playing a truly lifelike and natural woman, so it was a fresh experience for me. The innocent scenes, but also the kiss scenes with Tobio (Sato) were really exciting.h
As hinted above, Ishihara is playing the girlfriend of the unpopular comedian Tobio, played by Sato. At the talk session the cast discussed whether they would like to have Ishihara or another fellow entertainer as their actual girlfriend in real life.
In a recent variety show, Ayabe and some of his colleagues chose Ishihara as their favorite woman, especially because of her great sense of comedy. He stated, gEvery entertainer is working hard to pursue his or her dream. It would be nice to have an understanding girlfriend like her.h Sato started to like his idea and joined his side in the discussion.
Meanwhile director Shinagawa countered with a strong statement and said, gI hope she will never go out with an entertainer.h He continued, gFor example, if Ayabe and Ishihara were to go out with each other, I would start to dislike her, even if shefs my junior. She should go out with ordinary people such as a carpenter or a baker.h Of course they were just making fun of each other.
Kamiji agreed with him and said, gBoth of us would have a really busy schedule, so it would be difficult to have a good relationship.h
Another topic discussed was whether Sato would be fit to be a genuine comedian. Ayabe gave him his stamp of approval. He said, gHis passion regarding comedy is similar to ours.h Nishidai disagreed, gNah, he is too serious.h
Director Shinagawa actually criticized Sato as well stating, gHe might not be fit to be a comedianc It can be good to be serious when telling jokes, but he might be too serious.h
Sato was confused and asked, gHow can YOU say Ifm not suited for comedy after casting me for the movie?!h Shinagawa turned away and mumbled, gHe is amazing when it comes to comic dialogue (manzai), but this is a movie where you have to act out a role. In reality this kid is just way too serious.h
The audience was already laughing hard before the movie even started.
gManzai Gangh will open in cinemas on March 19th.

Santomi looked very Kawaii in this drama.
The drama itself was much better than I expected. Anyway, I'm now a fan of hers. This was the first drama that I've seen her be the lead actress. I wish her success so she ends up in the lead role more often.
