I sort of felt a bit bad for her. I mean, in the short program she goes before Kim and puts down a huge performance, and you could see how excited and happy she was right then. Kim comes on the ice and sets a new world record, beating her by a few points.
Then, in the free skate, Kim goes first and again puts the hammer down with a fabulous performance with a new world record (even surprising Kim). So now Asada has to skate knowing that the only way to get Gold is to score a new world record by 4 or 5 points. I think she was a bit stunned and dejected.
Yea, I completely agree. I was in favour of Queen Yu-na, but at the end of the freeskate, my heart went out to Asada. She really was thoroughly disappointed. Personally I found her freeskate far more dynamic, but Yu-na was just technically flawless. Both are beautiful on the ice. I'm sure their rivalry will continue, and I hope it does. They're amazing competitors. _________________

Some frenetic finishes at the short track speed skating. It's a little funny to see one of the Canadians winning gold by going backwards over the finish line. For a moment, I thought there was still another lap to go and no one managed to finish the race.

I missed this race! >>goes to CTV<<

Another great day for Canada!!
YES! We have now won the most gold, and have moved up the ranks to 3rd place.
You know, I was reading on CTV (I think) and they were saying that for the next olympics they may take out Women's Hockey because Canada has no competitors, and therefore it's not much of a competition because no one can rival us... I really hope they don't decide to take it out. Who knows if a grand team emerges in the next four year! Or if Canada turns into a terrible team? _________________

I was stunned by the unparalleled performance of Kim Yu-na. I hope both will appear in the next winter Olympics. You're right this is the beginning of a great rivalry. Need I mention that Kim Yu-na is also a vision of beauty. What's going on with these Korean gals? Do they get some kind of special beauty vitamin?
Oh and keep an eye on that skillful 16 year old from my neighborhood NAGASU Mirai. She most likely will make the next olympics a 3 contender event along with Kim Ya-nu and Asada Mao. These 3 will surely become the centerpiece of the next competition or even the entire olympics.

Yes, it's called plastic surgery.
Okay seriously, I don't think Yu-Na has gotten plastic surgery, but it's a huge industry in Korea. So much so, that I would say it's 50/50 that an actress has gotten some work done.

Yes! She was delightful. There was also the 16 year old Korean girl (very tiny) who they've dubbed "princess" after Queen Yu-na, since she'll most likely follow in the same foot steps. _________________

50/50? I think you're being conservative! I know Korean females that've gotten plastic surgery in my city, anything from breasts to butts.

I felt badly for Yun na. In her interview she said she gets nasty emails from her country men if she doesnt win. Even a silver produces hate mail. Poor thing. SO much pressure.
Gala skate tonight. THe performances are never as good. _________________

How 'bout the pressure from a flying bullet.
Columbian Andres Escobar got murdered for shooting an own goal during the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
Some of those hot blooded Koreans need to sit the f*ck down and chill out. I know/knew lots of 'em.

Fo' reals. Not to take anything away from the Korean Gold Medalist. I'm sure she is under a lot of pressure, regardless of some of her more zealous countrymen.

^Man.
For speed skating, they were saying that before their current coach, they had one who would beat the speed skaters - like physically beat them - if they didn't do well. The reason why Koreans are doing so well now is because they actually ENJOY the sport under their new coach.

That is wild, yo. And not in a good way, obviously. One would swear you are talking about the North Korean delegation and not South Korea.
Well at least plastic surgery is better than the insanity of piercings which make a gal look like she is held together with wires and nails.
LOL! Hmm...
On Topic: Canada has 13 golds! We've matched the world record. If we get one more gold, we'll break the record: highest number of golds of any nation in any winter olympics. _________________

OMGOMG 2-0 for Canada!
If we win this, we'll be the first nation in any winter olympics to win 14 gold!
And US has won the most medals at any winter olympics (I think). Yatta!
Funny how before the Olympics, they were talking about how Canada wanted to win Gold on home soil! That enough for ya!!
Asada Interview An interview with Asada after the Olympics. While I can't understand Japanese, I can feel her pain and disappointment. _________________
