Has anyone noticed one older woman (short crop) from the German team competing? I think her name is Okana. I was really speechless when I saw her on the balance beam. I dunno whether she has taken any 'supplements' to keep her form but my utmost respect to her for her tenacity. She would have retired if it hadn't been for her sick child. All the rest of the girls weren't even born when this lady started competing.

Yes! I saw her vault. I think she's 43 or something, and VERY impressive!

I agree. I was totally shocked by their performance.

Yes, finally! I saw both Bolt and Blake run today, but they seemed to be holding back. I think they're really gonna give us a show for the finals. Victory! Peace!

Have to disagree bmw, I thought Serena moved like a tornado. Her strokes were so powerful and went where she wanted to place them. Maria could do nothing..not even grunt. Amazing when you think that Serena could have died or been immobile last year. she is 31 years old and still plays like the best of them.

Murray at last found his timing and his strength. He was bound to win this time and I congratulate him. I think Federer was a little worn out. He had a huge match for his semi final.

I still don't agree with your opinion.
It's just my opinion of course, but I think anyone who plays tennis and trains as they do every day of the week, all year round, it's obvious they work hard, and play harder. Then to reach the Olympics and represent your country must be overwhelming.
I did not consider either match to be a blowout at all. Yes Serena won handily, but I think Maria was playing as hard as she could, so that does not make her a pushover. She was not the best player out there for that match.

Same applies to the Murray Federer match. They both played to the best of their ability in that match. I don't see how you can think one of them did not play at his best possible level. Someone has to win, and someone had to lose. It could have been the other way around for Murray, but today was his day.

They all deserve their medals. I thoroughly enjoyed both matches.

I also thoroughly enjoyed watching Juan del Potro beating Dhokovich today.

I didn't say that.

I said neither match was competitive.

kenjilina,

Totally agree. I was proud of UK again, from opening, up to date.

I wish the TV over here, carrying the games had shown some of the horse events.

I am now wondering how they will put out the Olympic flames. that's a big cauldron.

Still hard to believe ...... Bow Japan beats Germany to win bronze this evening in fencing (Team Foil). Would have been electrifying if they had beaten Italy to win gold (expecting too much, I think)

Turn off the gas ?

You can catch all the events, replays or 'live' from http://www.youtube.com/user/olympic

For this reason, I can give up my TV

Each nation will be presented with a petal apparently.

Presenting the petals is a great idea. Yes of course turn the gas off first....
something for remembrance.

Amazing to me that we can't see anything live time on NBC for the Olympics. Takes six to eight hours....... but we can see the Mars landing craft sending messages and photos within fifteen minutes of landing, after a 15 million mile journey. Well think it was that far. could have been more.

ALL the events, and all 'live' telecast are on IOC's official channel in the Youtube. Warts and all, including the one hour protest by the Korean fencer, 32minutes of nonsensical women badminton doubles by some world champions and the deliberately nonsensical last dive on the 3m springboard by a BRITISH (I dunno why the German diver was picked by netizens because his dive was a genuine accident and it could have caused him serious back and neck injury.)

I am cheering for Russia to win the synchronised swimming + the men's 3m springboard finals because they are the only finalists who MADE IT WITHOUT A CHINESE COACH w00t!

Bang Head I shot myself in the foot saying the Chinese divers play cool. The women gymnasts may be defeated but the male divers looked shattered after defeat. They weren't as cool after all or were they so cool that they didn't notice a Russian torpedo creeping up from the rears.

Naughty After the last dive that determined the gold medalist, the camera panned towards a bunch of team members who went 'hysterical' cheering the Russian lad........erh... wait a minute, isn't that the British team? rofl

I hope the Chinese act more kindly when the entire Chinese contingent returns home Sweat

i feel for victoria pendleton. she finished her magnificent cycling career yesterday with a silver(got a gold earlier in the week) but hardly gets a mention on the news as the press here are so wrapped up in our gold medal tally. Shake Head
