I saw her performance 1 or 2 hours ago. I remember the commentator saying she won some kind of title. I think it was in 2004.

My wife said she won the gold in the World's Championship in 2004. I'd look it up, but.... Sweat

I saw Mikitty too. They were saying she didn't manage to do her quad something, since a few months. Too bad, I think she was the only girl who could do it. =T

After reading this thread, I couldn't help look at her back side during her competition. It does seem a little bit large. Not that I'm complaining. hehe

A match Finland - Sweden will be interesting. Swedish are already at the finals, now will see what Suomi'll do.

Gorgeous. That's all I could think as I watched Arakawa skate last night. She was gorgeous, and so was her program.

All the jumps and spins are cool, but I like a touch of grace, class, and elegance in figure skating as well. And she just had it.

Side note: Boy are there a lot of sour grapes going around in the American media. Well, she only won because the other girl fell. Sasha was probably hurt. Kwan would have dusted her. Yada yada.

The girl kicked ass, won the big one, and is about to become a fixture in Japanese Pop culture.

On a sad note... the women's curling team from Great Britian didn't win. Okay, so the curling ladies from Scotland weren't as beautiful as Shizuka san... but the noises they made cracked me up. While they were on the ice they were the most entertaining part of the Olympics.

"HAaaaarrrrrrrrrrrd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" They sounded like a bunch of 18th century Pirates.

No surprise, really.

NBC's been flag waving since the get-go... And with numerous U.S. favorites getting served, they've been in damage control ever since. hehe

BMW

Yeah, it's always there. It's just that homers usually give me the yips.

One note that struck me as funny.

NBC knew 6 hours in advance that Arakawa won. But they were so sure that it would be between the American and the Russian, they'd only prepared sob story back ground pieces on the two favorites.

So we got to see the sad story of the Russian Girl, and her sick mother. And the little filler piece on Sasha.

But they didn't have anything on the Japanese girl!

They had half a day to put something together. The girl's been around in international competition for years. SHE'S BEEN LIVING AND TRAINING IN THE U.S. for YEARS! They could have come up with something!

They weren't expecting it. I'm sure those pieces were created before the games. They knew it was going to be Cohen vs. Slutskaya. They just didn't figure both would stumble in the end considering both were 1-2 after the short program. It was shortsightedness by NBC and in the end, it was egg on their face.
