Hey, where'd your opinion and the link to the article go? I read it earlier today before I left for work and now it's gone. I came back now for the link to sign the petition.
But yeah, I don't know what the rest of the users thought about it (or if they even bothered to read it) but I found it to be in bad taste. Ms Jones should be fired. That station should go down. _________________

you better run or kiss your ass away, go find your mommy
I just saw her float by, a tree went through her head

im surprised there arent many people discussing it here but its ok, Emcee Jin releases a diss track in response to the song: "Since when was Hip-Hop about being racist and ignorant?..."
my hiphop activist friend candice (dj kuttinkandi) took action and personally wrote a letter to the president and will try to shut down HOT97 or take down the employees who were involved in the Tsunami Song. and from what she told me, John Dimmick who was a president at hot 97 cowardly wrote her a long feedback instead of calling her back immediately, and apologized that theyre wrong this and that, trying to defend his cases yada yada.. i have the copy of his letter but its too long to post it here.
i personally think that Miss Jones shouldnt be just fired with her crews, they should trade their ignorant lives to the homeless, and make them realize that its not funny. or have them pay their salaries to the tsunami victims for 10 years. _________________

I'm so speechless..but I'M DYING TO KILL HER..
Yeah, a protest e-mail has been circulating among the Asian community here in the USA.
I went to the radio station's website yesterday and it had an apology on the main page, as well as an update stating that the entire morning show staff had been indefinitely suspended. It's sad that these radio people from NYC, which had suffered 9/11 not long ago, could be so callous as to the suffering of others.
Honestly, was anyone really surprised that such a song was written by a rap or hip hop artist? The genres have a well documented history of violent, derrogatory, sexist, and racist lyrics, so much so that audiences have become somewhat numb. If a tasteless song wasn't written about the tsunami, one would undoubtedly be written about a future tragic event.
Don't get me wrong, I've likely spent more hours than anyone on this forum groovin' in the clubs and lounges to hip hop. Not to mention getting hammered.

the song wasnt written by a rap or hiphop artist, im not suprised hearing a rascist song though, people write talk-shit lyrics all the time but thats not hiphop.. hiphop has its culture n not just music, im gonna skip with the hiphop history and sh*t
whatever it is, apology or not its still not acceptable the sudden disappearance of the song from their website as if the problem can silently be dealt with and covered up. its not acceptable to hush money donated to appease the crowd, and save their public image. i guess i demand highly from them to change..
i also felt the same sentiments with the 9/11 thing
btw where is that petition site? id like to sign up for it _________________

I couldn't believe the lyrics when I read it, let alone hear it. And they were laughing in the background like it was nothing. Although I am not surprised by their actions. They wanted people to talk about their show. Well they got what they wanted and more. I read the article before the link disappeared. I think it said they donated one week's pay. One week's pay??? That's all???
I didn't get a chance to hear MC Jin's response. I'm sure I'll be able to find it if I look. It's got to be out there somewhere.

HERE is where you can find Jin's ENTIRE hip-hop track response as an MP3; it is, at this writing at least, downloadable for FREE at his official site (read the first post by the Administrator at the following link):
I figure it'll probably be a free download for at least as long as this nasty situation is resolved.
NOTE TO FOLKS WHO DON'T LIKE HIP-HOP: even if you don't LIKE hip-hop, understand the situation first, then go listen to the track; Jin's song is a CLASSIC comeback of the highest order.
2nd NOTE FROM THE MAN: 1) I believe in the free speech of one man; and I also believe that millions of other can also have an opinion; 2) The Man was a-listenin' to Jin th' MC for a while now, hahah, go check out back pages of the "what are you listening to?" thread for add'l. info'.
Bottom line, though, with regard to this recent issue . . . sad . . . what folks excuse as parody sometimes.
One last note, because, we DO need to address all we can about this situation, AND HERE COMES THE BIG FONT, TOO:
boy, i am just speechless at those lyrics. how can anybody find them funny?
i completely agree. you would figure that the people who would empathize the most would be the new yorkers after 9-11.
lets not hate on nyc, hate on the radio station. tang comes from nyc, so it cant be that bad, there are f**ked up people everywhere.
btw
i havnt been to nyc so i dont really know how the people act there...

nah nobodys hating nyc, but the radio station
he was just saying out of all the people, why do they gotta make fun of the peeps who're involved in the tsunami accident? when theyre the ones who experienced the most horrible tragedy in 9/11 ...they should know better. _________________

yeah that is just a bad radio station. i never listen to them, they hate everything and always make judgemental and insensitive remarks.
thats the station, where after Aaliyah's death , one of the hosts said some really messed up stuff. they went so far as to, playing her songs and then, playing crashing air plane sounds right after.
plus i dont really think that they like asians that much.
at another asian site i go to , they air internet radio shows on thursdays,
and they have a page with some quotes that ms jones and the other hosts made about asian ppl. the kids on that page hate that staion too.
thats pretty f'ed up. how could anyone make fun of other ppl's death?
they must really wanna go to hell.

MixxDreamer: thanks for clarifying for me.
jax, my apologies if i came off as hatin' on nyc. i don't. i have several friends from there, and my brother lives there. i know people can be nice from ny. i meant that it was likely that some st*pid shock-jocks were bound to pull a dum-azz stunt like this - but nyc would've been the last place i would expect them to be from.
i also got some e-mails regarding the tsunami disaster. folks, if you want to check out their authenticity, you can go to www.snopes.com and type in 'tsunami'.

The whore's gone back on the air, according to the local papers. But Miss Info, the Korean-descended former news DJ, hasn't - she may have quit, no reason was said for her not being present. If she quit, good for her - better than to associate with such a brainless s-l-u-t.
I personally prefer to listen to Lite 106.7 or Mix II 102.7, they have better music than that junk.
