Hello - the name is John Hummel, and I just finished watching the series "Densha Otoko" and the movie version.
I've got to say, I preferred the movie version a lot more - the acting seemed to be stronger (really - how many times can he spout the tears? ), and I rather enjoyed the "nearly empty train station" where Densha is talking to the forum people. Since the DVD is coming out in January in the US, I'll probably snag a copy to show My Lovely Wife.
I'll wait until I've had a chance to browse this forum thread before embarrassing myself with silly thoughts and conclusions that have probably been brought up a thousand times before.
Though I do wonder if an English version of this movie could be made sometime - it's a lovely story that would make for a nice date movie. Not exactly the same, but hey, if they're going to remake "Shall We Dance" and "Ringu" why not "Train Man"?
Anyway, this was the first J-Dorama I've ever seen, and rather liked it. Guess I'll have to see what else strikes my fancy .

You mean the deluxe special? The subs for that is already available in d-addicts. _________________

Is it worth watching? If it's just "Densha gets into more trouble with Guitar Man" (and I'm assuming that Guitar Man is the restaurant owner would-be boyfriend of Saori), then meh.
If it's "Densha and Saori get married and get their groove thing on" then it might be worth watching - but as a guy who so-so'ed the TV series but *loved* the movie, I might be prejudiced .

Ito Misaki was undoubtedly a very attractive Hermes, but 'bubbly' really isn't what I have in mind...

A 'lady', in the upper class English sense of the word.

To tell the truth I still haven't watched this deluxe special episode, so I can't comment on that. I'm planning to watch it this weekend

Hehe thanks! Though it's gonna take me a long while to reach the 5K mark when my busy schedule begins next month. _________________

Either that, or they figured out that chicks dig the geeks. (Hey, it worked for me - everybody knows that geeks make better lovers - which is why geek girls are the best - right up there with "girls who play brass instruments" and "girls from the island of Guam" on the kissing meter ).

there is a Television Version starring Ito Misaki that was a blockbuster hit. It is available over www.d-addicts.com in its entirety subbed in English....unfortunately you've expressed your inability to download torrents which would preclude you from downloading the batch file.
