Com'on, man. Have you ever been to a party or a club? DJ's still use records you know.
But I never knew they were called turntables. When I was younger my dad had the Thriller record. I don't remember who he played it, but I guess he had a turntable...

OK, Miss High Tech. Lucky I didn't mention my gramophone or 8-track.
Gramophone? >>looks it up<<
Disclaimer: I'm not that young, you know. I remember the tape cassette and tape players. I remember when cars came with both tape players and CD players. I owned a walkman. _________________

No worries. Turntables are ancient tech by today's standards...I'm sure the kids growing up today would scoff at the sight of a vinyl record.

LOL! No worries, I wasn't offended! I'm actually used to be teased about looking young. I'm 28, but even now I get mistaken for being a student. BY STUDENTS.
I have a really round face, with round eyes, round nose, round mouth, round chin.... It makes me look really young. I've had the same face since I was an infant. No lies. I'll have the same face when I'm 90. _________________

Well I was on my way to bed. I did the wrong thing and came here and now I am glued to threads.
I have to make a remark re the 'turntable'. I don't recognise that photo of the player set up either. I think I am too old and it passed me by....
I did have a gramophone which was set in a cabinet which was free standing. Had to wind it up for each record to play. I had a really nice collection of early jazz records and a good classical collection. I also never ever used metal needles. I used to buy fibre needles and had a wheeltype sharpener which I used to sharpen the needle after every playing. These needles were actually made from cactus needles. I had never seen a cactus plant then so it was interesting in later years to drive through the saguaros in Arizona. I remember I bought a very special 'super' sound piece for the arm that held the needle. I had really good sound after I installed it.
Makes me a little sad to think of all those records. don't know where they went. All those early Dixieland groups. All those great early Duke Ellington. Still can hear Adelaide Hall doing Mood Indigo and Creole Love Call.
Well I guess what I am doing is going down memory lane.It ain't all bad.
