Start work at Marukai nat 8:00am
Get off work at Marukai at 5:00pm
I didn't know they had Marukai in Hawaii. I thought it was just a So. Cal thing.
I thought the only store they had in Honolulu is ABC Store!!! (j/k)
BTW...can someone from Hawaii explain to me why sometimes the ABC Store HAS an 'S' at the end (as in Stores), and sometimes it does NOT? It seems so random and no one seems to be able to answer that. In fact most of the people working there that I've asked never realized that it's spelled both ways, depending on the location.
Is it like shave(d) ice? The last letter just doesn't matter?!!

Tourists..........
Nah! J/K! *LOL* J/K!
They opened the Marukai in Hawaii before they opened it in Cali. Marukai originally started in Osaka, Japan. Then, the owner, Mr. Matsu, decided to expand and bring in Japanese imported foods to Hawaii. And then the next closest state, Cali.

No factual explaination for that question however, I assume that your theory could prove a possible explaination.
I always thought it to be ABC stores. Maybe the "S" from the sign fell off when you went. Ya jinx! J/K! _________________

I think the bags say stores...but some of the big signs outside do NOT. check it out!!!
BTW...My wife LOVES the Marukai store...but mostly for the cheap dishes and utensils (rather than the food).

I'll go check out that ABC bag soon. There is one right across the street of my apt.
Yeah, most items at Marukai are super cheap in comparison with other places like Daiei, and Foodland. Longs is pretty neck and neck with Marukai in most items though.
Why doesn't your wife like the food? Not good up there in Cali? Longer flight, perhaps? (for food transfer from Japan, or Hawaii) _________________

Oh no...I didn't mean she doesn't like the food...just meant the REASON she likes Marukai is for the cheap utensils and stuff...
Marukai is kind of far from where we live, and there is a Japanese food store a lot closer so if we want Japanese food stuff we'd just go there instead (Mitsuwa Market).
