It's in San Antonio, about 4-5 hours west of Houston, I believe.
Yikes, never mind.
If that's not a priority, then basically it's a waste of a little more than half of a day.

Went to Galveston on Monday evening, recommended. Miles of lovely beach overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Small, but worthwhile, old-fashioned section of town called The Strand that's worth a stroll.
Found the real Asian district of Houston, Bellaire Boulevard (cross street of Gessner). Plenty of good food.
The original Chinatown appears abandoned, except for a handful of Vietnamese restaurants and businesses, plus a couple of Chinese wherehouses. It's walking distance to Minute Maid Park, the new baseball field, which looks beautiful from the outside. Will go to the baseball game later tonight.
The Galleria is a cool shopping mall, 3 stories, and a huge ice skating rink on the first floor in the middle of the walkway. It's open very late, since it connects to a couple of offices and hotels. They have a Cheesecake Factory, went there for late night drinks.
Freeway system of Houston, finally have it figured out. It's a ring surrounding downtown, with spokes extending to the suburbs from the ring. Easy once you get used to it.

I remember the 610 loop. It beats having to go through downtown Houston if you didn't need to. But even the loop is crowded from what I remember.
610 sux bad during rush hour. there are stretches where there are only 2 lanes due to construction, but it is always busy, rush hour or not.
come to think of it, there is a major traffic problem on all of the freeways. i blame idiot drivers. i am NOT one of them, thank you.
the museum district is cool, there is a museum thatll have soemthing cool in it. dont quote me, but the LOTR displays may still be there. Also is the theater district. I believe phantom of the opera is playing.
and for anyone who visite houstons downtown in the future, beware the lite rail. I heard it was hit by a pedestiran...
I have "Evo logic", meaning it has evolved from the way you all think....
but yes, I meant the lite rail hit a pedestrian. that said, i have also seen a pedestrian hit it on more than one non cinsecutive occasion. There is a lot of hate for that train, myself included.
you need to check out the following places when you're in houston..
SIGHTSEEING PLACES
- Moody Gardens
- Aquarium (Downtown Houston) -- moody garden is still much better..hehehe
- Kehma! ride the Beast! its awesome!
- NASA (of course..this is houston)
- AstroWorld (better hurry before it closes down!)
- Natural Bridge Caverns (2 hours drive from HOU...its pretty good..try it)
MALLS
- Galleria is the best to go around specially if you're not from here. Its much better during Christmas season because they put a big christmas tree right in the middle of the skating ring.
- First Colony Mall (its alright..you'll see more asians here because its in Sugarland)
- Katy Mills (its the best! all outlet store!!!!)
RESTAURANTS:
I see you discover Bellaire! yup..its all good asian food. You need to go to LAI LAI down in bellaire near gessner..i forgot the other street right after gessner when coming from downtown. They have the best meat pan friend noodles and bbqpork fried rice and the price are cheap too!
- Japanese food..need to try OSAKA down in westhiemer and montrose...they have an awesome cruchy rolls! you'll get hook so bad on that one.. There's TODAI too the one in I-10 and silber street...
There's lots of stuff to do here in Houston and lots of places open 24 hours.
Oh check out Jillians and Dave & Busters too! those are good places to hang around to play, drink, and eat!
Hope this all helps...kind of too late but i think you're still here in Houston..hehehe..later dude!

i don't understand why they made that in the first place. its useless when its raining because it floods easily the underpass down in holcombe. it causes more traffice too in fannin now.
I would think if they want to emulate one of the big dog cities, they wouldv used an El Train. theyre cheap and effective. and it wouldnt have made downtown even MORE crowded. the only downside IMO wouldve been the noise factor... but who would care, does anyone really live in downtown?
I like TIN TIN also. they have cheap foods, and the tase isnt bad. I think it is in Di Ho plaza. I cant say for sure because i havent been to Chinatown in a couple of years. Living on the northside has put me out of touch.
There were some cool karaoke bars in chinatown too, but i dont remember the names of them.

Yep, went there too, it's called Tan Tan. It's a Vietnamese joint.
Went to the baseball game at Minute Maid park on Thursday night, it was fun. Nice ballpark, the hallways are so wide that it makes it comfortable to walk through even when there's a big crowd.
Hit the downtown aquarium too. Very nice, for such a small place. Those 4 white tigers are most cool.

Subways there were CRAZY, but the art underground was amazing. I was totally impressed... which was good, because I totally put out by the fact that they can smoke in subway stations.
Notre Dame Cathedral was beautiful! I had tea with Quasimodo and he showed me around.
Some Interior Shots:
(GORGEOUS rose window )
That's where I signed the Prayer Book. Lovely idea.
Really old Chandelier. It's not up anymore. Too heavy.

Flying Butresses! FINALLY seen them in real life:
Oldest Clock in Europe, and it still works!:
This is where Marie Antoinette was held captive:
Actual house boats! I've never seen them in life before:

Rear of the Louvre:
I still can't believe a queen lived here. Can you imagine?! I'd get lost EVERY DAY. Anyways, the Louvre is actually the largest palace in Europe.
Some Pyramid pics outside the Louvre:
I have some sculpture pics, I dunno how many people would be interested, so I'll leave those out.
Ummm... O! For all Da Vinci Code fans, here's the inverted pyramid:

I think you have to do something to make them public.
